What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 1)

Well yesterday I washed it ready for a rare trip out today to visit my Mum at her care home. Really wanted to have a topless drive. Well it chucked it down both ways. Roof up all day and it’s now covered in more ‘see are ay pee’ than it was yesterday. :cry:

To make matters worse I had to fill up with a tank of Tesco’s finest 99 go juice. Can’t understand that, only filled it in September. :confused:

Passed it’s MOT with one advisory

“Nearside Front Service brake binding but not excessively”

I’ve not driven it in about 6 months so I’m hoping that’s something to do with it?

Taken delivery of it. MX-5 #6 is mine!

It needs a fair bit of TLC (that is a flattering shot!) but yes, it is… It’s great to be back in an MX-5, I’m a lucky man!

The NC Zunsport comes as 2 separate pieces - an upper and a lower. I fitted the chrome ones to my black NC.

Also fitted a black one to my NC2.

I have been waiting for the weather to go out on to the street to fit my skuzzle, it’s always raining though. Did you go for the davfab ecu plate as well?

I took my opportunity with the weather, girlfriend not too happy she wanted to go for a walk as we’d been in for daaaays because of lockdown… I won. Stupidly I remembered the plate when I was looking at the ecu, so it’s on order :grimacing:

Funny thing with the rust, after I put the bumper back on it errr “sorted” itself out. Out of sight out of mind :upside_down_face:

Just out of curiosity, why go for 2 ncs?

Don’t get me wrong I’ve got an nc and if someone said “do you want another“ I wouldn’t really turn them down it’s just if I were to get a 2nd mx5 it would be an na or nb just to have something different

Is a nice bit of kit. How was it removing the bumper?

I think I will get a wire brush and some rust neutraliser ready for when I do mine :stuck_out_tongue:

Removing the bumper was easy, considering it’s my second ever job on any car (the other being the reverse lockout plate). My only tips would be ratchet spanner for the bolts under the wheel arch that said I didn’t use axle stands and follow the instructions properly but that’s obvious, I thought I had the gist of it then spent 20 minutes looking for the final 2 screws 🤦 other than that it took no time at all

It wasn’t intentional to have 2 NC’s.

I bought the black one in 2019 with the intention of keeping it long term. Then the silver one became available unexpectedly in Dec 20, the owner (who had also owned my black car in the past) had a left knee op and could no longer drive a manual car.

Although it’s a 2010 car, its got comprehensive history, only 49,000 miles and had all polybushes fitted and cobalt back box.

I sold the black one 2 weeks ago - sold within 3 days of advert being placed to the first person that viewed it.

Out of interest, how does the facelift compare to the early model? I read a lot of critics about the 2007 suspension setup.

The facelift is a much nicer drive, although to be fair it has had new polybushes and done 50,000 miles less.

Regardless, it feels more refined and drives much better then the NC despite having the alignment done on the NC, it doesn’t wallow.

The sills on the NC1 are just the absolute worst to get off. Impossible not to break at least some of the clips as they all point in different directions.

Before you do double check the mx5parts price. I bought a black full Zunsport for my ND and at the time the mx5parts price was considerably cheaper than direct from Zunsport. Not even a 10% off weekend either.
