What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Easter weekend Sunday and Monday 350 squids both days (or 199 for one - this the one I’ve gone for on the Sunday) with open trackdays. Not seen another weekend one for Anglesey the next few months so i jumped on it yesterday while there’s still places.

Blydon easy track but loads of gravel off track if someone goes a bit wide you can pick up chips quite easily

Are you doing the mx5 only in November at doni?

Same thing about Caldwell not worth going with your pride and joy but great track for a track car

“My turbo did not explode” is great milestone. You have unlocked the next task which is “There’s always another day for it” and “7500 rpm” also “red hot exhaust manifold pictures”. My suggestion is to just go for the last two cuz the first one seems expensive.

Seriously nice going mate. Do you have any dyno curves?

I haven’t had time to get it to a dyno so road logging and adjustments has been the path I have taken.

But for info I have found VirtualDyno pretty useful to provide an indication of what it is likely to be…

Caveats
Same stretch of road
Same conditions within 1/2 degrees
Same engine temps
Custom car setup inc gear ratios, weight, wheel circumference etc.

That’s some serious numbers there mate. If you don’t mind I’m gunna ask some more questions in your thread and have another read on your build

Just picked up this little beauty today after a 5 month wait.

Cleaned and ready for some summer drives. However, MOT’d two weeks ago and some rear sill welding work done but I found this under the waxoyl!! Not impressed as it would rot away.
Why would they NOT suggest doing it rather than trying to cover it!
Off to the Mazda specialist Thursday for some under body work.

Fingers crossed it ain’t too bad

It’s the outer skin of the front of the rear arches. I think I’ve caught them in time but only noticed when on stands to do something else. If your going to weld for the MOT five inches away, why would you not at least mention it to me. Garage has photos and calling me tomorrow but I sent the photos to the specialist and he said he would fail the car for what’s there. Interesting conversation tomorrow.

That’s not an MOT fail if it’s not holed.
Mine below, has been treated.

Also after 6 weeks of waiting my dash mat arrived from Japan also, just need to adjust it and get it stuck down with 3m velcro, before anyone asks the radio is a kenwood mask

I can peel back the outer skin with my fingers to reveal the inner sill.

Took mine to the menders for the 4th annual service and MOT, had an advisory for corrosion on the rear discs, but the menders said in their opinion it wasn’t worth worrying about.

Billie Jean by is my go to track for testing any audio equipment. I’m a full on rocker and metal head but Jackos classic is a sure way to hear a wide range of frequencies. The production is outstanding considering its age now.

Love your MX5 gearstick cover! Where did you get it?

I’ve no idea, previous owner fitment. I suspect eBay though, seen similar on there.:+1:

Thank you. Will have a look on Ebay.

Replaced the fuel filter on my NB.
I have no record of it being changed and feared the worst but my fear was unfounded. The filter was almost certainly not the original.
The job went relatively smoothly following the advice and tips from MazdaMender plus watching a couple of YouTube tutorials.
I did lose about a cup full of E5 though. (Probably approx £25 at today’s prices! :unamused:) Felt like doing a “MadMax” and mopping it up into a container
It will be interesting to see if I notice any difference.
Cheers,
Guy

Covered about 120 miles around the Peak District yesterday in mainly terrible conditions. However, the roads were reasonably clear and surprisingly grippy so lots of fun had.

Today was cleaning day!
I use the “no bucket” method which is my own invention!
Finished off with Meguires Hybrid Ceramic Wax which is applied whilst the car is still wet and taken off with the pressure washer.
Works a treat.
