What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Removed condensation…
Yep today i removed two mini dehumidifiers that id left in my boot over the winter storage period in my unheated garage.
Both almost full, maybe 1ltr of water.

Not been near mine but this arrived today :grinning:

I ordered it 5 months ago but it’s now finally been published and available in the UK.

Link??
Does it perform a similar finction to a Haynes manual?

More of a history type book.

bobsyeruncle is right. A thorough history of the NC from inception through all it’s variations around the world. A very interesting read so far.

I got it from a well known internet retailer of everything but the publisher listing is The Book of the Mazda MX-5 Miata.

I went through all the door and prht roof seals with Autoglym rubber conditioner.
All cleaned and conditioned now.
Took a couple of hours but a job well worth doing.

Today I have been adding a reversing camera to my car, this is the third ND I have done this mod to and 3 different kits.

First one was a Ventura one imported directly from Mexico before they came readily available here.

Second one was an @Roadie one which I’m sure a few of you here have done.

This was the IL Motorsports one through MX-5 parts, not sure who makes them though they’re quite similar to the Ventura in terms of the camera connection.

I did drop the head unit securing bolt and its still in there somewhere… :face_with_spiral_eyes: no rattles on the test drive so time will tell, luckily I have a box of spare bolts…

This is also the first car where I have had to disconnect the battery in order to activate the camera out of the 3.

Shouldn’t have to disconnect the battery for the MZD to recognise the camera. A reboot should do it by pressing Mute, Nav and Back arrow buttons for around ten seconds until the screen goes blank will do the job.

Because the MZD is completely disconnected during fitting it will reboot anyway when powered up.

I’m guessing that while you were fitting the kit you fired up the MZD before the camera was fully connected. On the two previous fittings you didn’t do this.

I was under the impression that the MX5Parts / ILMotorsport kit was just a rebadged Ventura kit. However this one doesn’t have the centre line in the image so probably not. Looks good whatever.

:grinning:

That’s a possibility… :smirk:

I had this impression also and the fact that the connector was the same supports that, I guess part specifications will change over time so it still could be.

Good to have the camera as the car doesn’t have any parking sensors, I know some people ridicule the need for this in a convertible however in the ND having something is a big help as close rear visibility when reversing is not great.

I came home from work and… luckily it was still there…

Who doesn’t love unpacking new stuff :joy:

You can just make out the new Rear IL Motorsport Anti Roll bar (matching the new Front one) above the exhaust and out towards the wheels.
Felt good on the road, will get to know exactly how good at Goodwood in the morning.

Cheers

Dont forget to apply stickers, coilovers perform better and its adds 3-4mph to the top speed, no really!

To be honest Dave I don’t really like stickers on cars/bikes but there’s an exception

I didn’t add the BBR ones, I wasn’t planning adding the Ohlins’s ones but I agree about adding speed; I’m actually expecting for them to add considerable speed on corners (that’s why I bought them) :sunglasses: My current suspension still works but has seen better days plus I needed adjustable suspension to do the weight cornering. Because I think Ohlins do offer a better product as a suspension company compared to cheaper alternatives I decided to buy a set as a test.

Having said that only sticker I did put on my bike was the Nürburgring one. Once I setup the car how I want it I may need to go for a few laps and buy another pair of stickers :joy:
