A friend is an Ohlins approved specialist. He talked me out of buying Ohlins as they were bought out by Yank adventure capitalists a couple of years ago. He’s already noticed a drop in quality as the first thing the new owners did was send in the bean counters. Sad, really.

Had two sticky brake callipers replaced and some ball joint covers (ready for MOT). I think I have spent 50% of what the car is worth in the last month, but I suppose that is the joy of these cars.
I’m thinking of replacing the after market roll bar with an OEM heavy duty style bar. I am very unlikely to ever track the car again and think the chrome style bars look way nicer.
Had a new double DIN head unit fitted,chuffed!

They go in the recess behind the interior door ‘opener’ pull.

Same place that CC obtained them from, AlliBongo or something like that. Never used them before but I eventually got the hang of them. It looks like they take care of taxes by adding that cost to the total so there are no nasty surprises. They arrived 1 month earlier than advised and the quality is good.

AliExpress is very much like a Chinese version of eBay. AliExpress don’t sell anything themselves, it’s all done by sellers registered on the site. As with all marketplaces like this there are good and bad sellers. However if you do have problems with anything and the seller doesn’t play ball AliExpress will step in and usually refund very quickly.
Prices are usually pretty good but when you get to the payment page they jump up as the VAT is added.

MOT time for the old girl. Failed on the headlights “headlamp aim projected beam images is obviously incorrect”
I put new headlamps on from MX5parts before last years MOT and it passed no issues.
Tester said to try new bulbs, so have some OSRAM Nightbreaker 200s on order to see if that sorts the problem out. I’ll be really hacked off if it turns out to be the headlight units that are the issue.
I prefer wish.com, same deal of independent dealers with a money-back guarantee that I have used successfully when something never turned up. Search “mazda mx5 miata” for a selection.

Fitted a cobra sport back box to my NC1. Rubber hangers were a sod to remove until I used a dedicated tool bought from a huge South American rainforest. Whole job completed in about 30 minutes after that.
Because of the delay I’ll have to wait a week to try it out now as the car is blocked in the garage!
Looks nice and shiny though
