What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Washed it ready for a trip along the M4 to Bath tomorrow.

Ordered a new steering wheel, cost 250 but it will be good

Be ready for a hot hand if you leave it in the sun with the top down!

Looks good though.

Fixed a coolant leak…the dreaded rubber plug at the rear of the engine…flushed the coolant and replaced the antifreeze etc.:sunglasses:

Fitted a DaveFab oil catch can, after sanding off the black finish. Covered the hoses in red heat shrink and topped them off with metal hose finishers.

Nice. I think the NC looks really good in white :sunglasses:

Liking the aftermarket steering wheel.

I have a touch screen stereo that is bad for its touch screen (Kenwood ddx4018bt) responsiveness so got to stick with the standard wheel and their radio controls sadly.

Royal wheels retain all that but with a much nicer rim

Waking up the lemans after a 3 year sleep, filling up with v power and first ever run out in it for my daughter :hugs:

I have been doing some work on the lights.
I dislike the rear lights chrome, looks very 90s Japanese.

Little bit of tape work to protect the black plastic edges

After the lacquer you can see they have the classic orange peel effect, I think this is because I put it on too heavy. Was rushing because the can was so inconsistent.

The reverse light I covered with a 75mm sticker so the white light still shines though when reversing. From directly behind it’s totally clear so should be MOT worthy but as you can see from the side you can see the outline, where the circle sticker stopped the red tint covering the area.

After some 2000g paper, 3m 3000g disc and a quick rotary polish with novus fine polish (the stuff soft top users slap on the rear plastic window) it came out okay, needs a bit more work before refitting. (death to the chrome!!)

Done these a while with the 3m headlight kit. Need to apply 2k lacquer to finish them off.

One day I will bite the bullet, just seems like an expensive I could do without, not that I even know how much it is? The original wheel at 52,000 miles is not too badly worn but I find it quite slippery.

I’d had some hub centric spacers in my shed for some time so decided to fit them today to my NC1.
Off came my Ultralite F1’s 38mm offset and on went four NC3.5 sport tech OEM’s with 25mm spacers.
I wound up the Meisters to 20 from soft all round and hey presto, no rubbing which I was thinking would be a success anyway with -2.5 negative camber all round.
Ill be careful not to carry any dead bodies in the boot but I’m thinking I’m good to go. A run out tomorrow will tell me more.
I’d almost forgotten how nice NC factory wheels are.
Pics when the sun’s out again, it’s too dark now.

I tried moisturising skin cream on my leather wheel and it doesn’t restore it to new but it does make it stickier.
It also seems to plump up the grain a little, so makes it look less worn.

Will try it, thank you!
