What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Finally got round to swapping out the door bushes on my mk3.5 for some red and black ones from Just Send It….
I know there has been some heated debate on here and other forums on whether the new bushes actually make any difference to handling etc… which I tend to agree with, but for me I’ve got some annoying rattles and squeaks coming from the drivers door so if they stop those I’ll be pleased, and for £15 it’s worth a try….

I did the same, found they worked and then got some Delrin ones that are even better as they dont scuff like the just send it ones and they are much better made, so actually enhance the door jamb as they are made of machined Delrin rsther than 3d printed abs.

First job of the day was easy clean roof in preparation for annual Fabsil protection, I was amazed at just how well last years 3 coats still protecting despite 12,000 miles intensive use in all weathers twixt John O Groats in the North, Mulhouse in the South, Sinsheim to the East and Lands End to the West.

I noticed when cleaning the car my Michelins were getting a bit close to the edge so in preparation for Madges MOT I put some old Toyo’s on which I had in stock. Looking closely at one of the front wishbone bushes I noticed it seemed a tad worn. I knew five years / 66,000 miles ago this day was coming but still ugh ! Might strugge to get my MOT a week on Tuesday.

Looks likes tomorrow is going to be a busy day sourcing complete set of front suspension bushes, drop links, nuts and bolts and getting quotes to get all the work done !

I taxed it but can’t drive it on the road until 1st March:grin::thinking: seems ages, well 3 months since it’s been on the road.
It’s only got 3 wheels fixed on anyway, the 4th goes back on tomorrow when I’ve put the brakes back together. It’s like watching/waiting for caliper paint to dry.:+1:

Smoked LED side indicators and new black wheel nuts arrived today so got the drivers side all swapped over. Just the passenger side to do next time Maz comes out the garage.

Hi Stephanie , I have since found this out, do you know if adhesive mounts are ok ? Or is it clamp the only option ?

Kev

Sorry I can’t remember.

If it’s helpful, this is what MSV state on their trackdays:

" ON BOARD RECORDING EQUIPMENT

This is permitted as long as in-car cameras and other equipment are safely and securely attached to the car only using mounting systems specifically designed for that purpose. Professional ‘designed specifically for the purpose’ suction mounts/adhesive mounts need a secondary secure fixing such as a tether. The event team do reserve the right to insist on adjustments or refuse use of the equipment if they deem it unsuitable/unsafe."

Polished the boot lid with AG SRP and gave it a coating of HD Wax.

Treated the plastic rear screen too, with Meguiars PlasticX.

Think it comes up a treat. One photo taken at an angle that shows the reflections of the trees in the plastic window, second when I block the reflections with the phone - has come up like new methinks. Well good, innit

Well 1st March has arrived, NC still in the garage unwashed

I said to my OH you watch March will be a complete wash out, nothing but rain now I’ve taxed it.
Wasn’t wrong, well for the 1st day, can’t even get it out to wash it

I’ve tidied my garage, fed the birds, had lunch and posted too much on here.

Was looking at my Eunos in the garage today, wondered if it was the day to release it from hibernation. Looked at the weather forecast and saw possibility of snow and a new “beast from the east” warning . . . now undecided.

Bugg*r it, am going to tax it and enjoy some time on the road, even though the top may not be down for a few more days! Will wash and polish it next weekend, weather permitting.

I added the IL Motorsport front lower chassis brace to my basket a few days ago early in the morning when I couldn’t sleep (nothing like 4am spending of sorts :joy: ) while browsing MX5 Parts website. Dropped off eventually before deciding to hit the buy button. The very next day, they’d put the price up from £96 to £119 !! So they can go shaft themselves…… :rage:

Came up with another idea….I got the oe brace powder coated which BTW is not lacking in the strength department. I know it’s purely cosmetic, but it’s the small things in life lol !! And only £30.

I’ve run out of cardboard…following my last spillage. I’m not slumming it with cardboard anymore, I’m going to get myself some carpet.
Garage looks seriously tidy and bracket looks great. :+1:
