Fitted the new second hand dashboard cowl with no drama. I applied a small amount of grease on the three metal brackets, bit paranoid.

Replaced the battery on my mk3 today as it had started to get sluggish on start up. When I tested it, it was showing only 12v so was on it’s way out. (Charging was over 14v).

Bought a yuasa ybx5000 from tayna batteries online, was very impressed with their delivery service it was around 24hrs from order yesterday afternoon to delivery today. Just over £76 with delivery.

I have exactly the same battery and have had no problems for 18 months. I do keep it connected to a trickle-charger when away from home for more than a few days though. Tanya are excellent; I have used them several times.

Got a lovely box of goodys from Portsmouth…

It’s been five years since I did the cam cover gasket and I was a little alarmed to find this, soon as I phoned MX5 parts and told them I had ordered this item for my 1.8vvt they knew I was concerned about the split between no 1 and no 2 cylinders and reassured me it was designed like that.

Since I last changed these twelve months ago I have done 12,000 miles including an 8 day LeJOG / NC500 social run, competed in four sprints, 3 double driven and four hillclimbs, 2 double driven, been on a weeks tour of the west country 400, a week tour of France Belgium and Germany with 2 laps of the Nurburgring and did a run from Lowestoft Ness to Lands End in a day. Think I got my moneys worth.

Hoping the black soot on the plugs is nothing more serious than …

dirty airfilter combined with standing in traffic for nearly an hour to get into Race Retro a week or so ago. I am tempeted to get a new 02 sensor just incase she is running rich prior to MOT.

I will leave the water pump until after MOT hope to get oil and oil filter done before the end of the weekend. Not looking ptomising with the weather though.

You sir, are an absolute legend :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

All four wheels powder coated in mirror black, plus four brand new Michelin ps4s.
Now needs a damn good clean an£ polish

My MX-5 has gone for its second year service today. I have dropped it off at the garage where my son works (Ford), he will do the service with all the bits I bought from Mazda (:+1:Mazda Warrington).

Oil, Oli filter, plug washer and brake fluid. Not cheap but I have a Mazda invoice with my registration on it .

Pick her back up tomorrow

Anybody know what the 9349 miles is telling me :face_with_monocle:

Edit: Just noticed you can see my Alexa Auto in that picture, you don’t see it during normal driving :+1:

Would that be on the ND, service in 14 days or the mileage shown, whichever comes first?

It’s exactly as Mick says.
It should be reset at the service by the dealership.

Just had my NC fettled by BBR the other day. Super 200 with GT back box and catted manifold. Terrific job by their team. Only issue was picking it up on Thursday in the snow! How can I put this………………entertaining! It’s transformed the car. Deeper sound, not intrusive and great fun past 4000 rpm . Highly recommended.

Just got back home from collecting the NC from The MX5 Restorer after it having;
Full service,
Gearbox oil drained and replaced,
Differential oil drained and replaced,
New clutch assembly,
Full underseal and cavity wax,
A couple of PDR’s.

Having considered the options we decided that a bit of investment in the current car was a better option than replacing it! Time will tell…….

Wasn’t bad tbh, spray glue on the plastic parts and then line it up. I’ll see how it copes with the summer as I’ve found it tends to shrink a bit.

Happy with it though. These little jobs stop me Getting a turbo conversion!!!

Track day at Snetterton Monday which involves a 2 hour drive to get there. As a committed user of Vaping products, finding a place to keep your device to hand for the journey isn’t easy in the NC so carried out a five minute very cheap essential upgrade today.

A post on one of the many MX-5 facebook groups I belong to reminded me today that I could not remember the last time I saw the inidicator lights flash when I locking Madge.

Sure enough the cheesy bracket the holds the bonnet alarm switch bent… again.

Good to know Madge’s alarm is properly arming again.

I’ve replaced the Bridgestone potenza 205/45/17’s with Goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 6 215/45/17’s. Many thanks to the various posters who recommended the wider tyre size. They look like they’ll provide more protection for the rims and on a run through to Otterburn today the Goodyears felt very grippy (as you’d expect from new tyres).

While I was out the delivery bloke brought me a clear acrylic wind blocker (thanks Roadie), a set of Eibach lowering springs and a stubby aerial. AK Automotive at Rowlands Gill are fitting the springs next Tuesday and will also carry out a 4 wheel alignment so I’m really looking forward to that!
