Is it any wonder the nanny state is in such rude health ?
Nothing on the car today but joined as a paid up member yesterday.
While we’re on the topic of mod insurance.
Lloydsmotorinsurance wanted to charge me an extra
£60pcm.
Greenlight insurance gave me a quote which was only £1 extra pcm.
This tickled me when you ask for a quote on their website:
The car Must:
- be worth over £1,000 and under £30,000 (cars above £25,000 will require additional security)
- not be a BMW (We do quote Mini’s)
Done earlier this week, but picked it up today from MXRestorer having had underseal and cavity wax.
New expansion tank fitted after respraying it, due to it being scratched in transit.
Also sprayed the bracket it bolts to.
Oem strut brace fitted, painted the lettering and ridges on engine cover, new oil filler cap, counter sunk washers and bolts fitted.
Finished of with a clean and detail, after giving the car a good clean.
Don’t forget to tell your insurance company!!!
Good tip!
A timely post, as I’ve just renewed my (modified) insurance with Lancaster this afternoon!
Just out of interest, how much did that cost?
Collected it from Duke Street Garage in Oldham, where it has spent the week having underseal done, and new rear drop links fitted. Undersealing Service in Oldham - Duke Street Garage
Fitted new design of seat belt guide from MX5 parts.
It works!
The new design no longer forces the belt into a longitudinal curl as it passes through. As a result it retracts much more freely.
Straight swap, takes a couple of minutes.
What do they use, Dinitrol, Waxoyl?
I noticed a Dinitrol sign on the building.
Started fitting AL spherical bearings to the rear hub, the AL tool makes the job so easy without requiring any dismantling!
Removing
Installing
Yup, as @Dean_S550 said, they’re a Dinitrol agent.
too busy admiring the car, clearly not obvious enough!
Cheers
Cleaned all the rubber seals (HT, bonnet, boot, doors)
and sparingly applied silicone grease. Greased the cogs and oiled the linkages on the PRHT mechanism. Winter ready.
Reassembly today. Driveshaft and core support girder thingmy back in, steering rack fitted, new radiator and hoses sort of trial fitted and almost right, some snagging and cable management and such, and started getting bits of suspension back in. Nice feeling of progress and also the shed is nearly empty!
Next step is the exhaust I guess so that I can fire the engine without the neighbours killing me. But fitting that’s going to be a bollocks, with teh rear wheels on the ground and the front wheels in the shed. My driveway is too slanty to really have the car on 4 jacks so, it’s going to suck getting hte backbox attached. But the hubs and brake shields are still mid-paint so I can’t put the front back together and don’t really want to wait. Time to grow some extra long arms.
