What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

With the prospect of some dry days ahead (and even some sunshine - woohoo!) I gave the Precious its first wash and polish of the year.

2023 was not a good year for either of us, I had a brush with the infinite when I was allergic to some medication, lost all kidney function and ended up in the ICU having emergency dialysis. The Precious was written off as uneconomical to repair after I was hit while stationary at a junction. I bought the car back and had the old girl fixed and put back on the road after much aggravation. We’re both alive and well. The sun is shining, and I’m off to for a spin this afternoon.

Just finished early winter jobs on the tack MX5 , complete HVAC removal, complete dash removal was required, lots of connectors and one I missed at the rear to the mosfet had me puzzled for a while, made and fitted carbon fibre blank and new centre panel. Removed all unnecessary pipes and ac pump , rad and dryer thing, AC pump removal was easy but getting it out of the engine bay required ecu removal and surrounding stuff, as I was in there and bumper was off fitted a ramair/skuzzle intake , not sure it will be better but … well … I was already in there.
Then fitted some lightweight headlight blanks. Next job will be some real gauges for oil pressure/oil temp and water temp. …. Any opinions on if I should fit them in the new centre panel or in the now not used vent holes either side of steering wheel ?

ND - WHEEL NUT COVERS

Amazon 17mm £5.99

Got Ginny out of the garage today for the MX5OC monthly pub meet. Fitted the covers. They push on but are an airtight fit and can’t see them coming off on their own. You get enough covers for a 5 stud wheel, 16 x normal and 4 x locking nut size. They look good (IMO)

OK, wheels are dirty, they were put away in December and came out to play today. Battery on minder, iStop reset and . . . a good run along the dual carriageway to get the cobwebs out.

Today was the first clean of the new year… about 3 weeks worth of road gunk on there so I decided to try out my snowfoam gun on it, tried to avoid hitting the soft top but appears fine after I finished…

Looking a lil better I think

Fitted grille I picked up a couple of weeks ago.Bit of a nightmare fitting the clips, but looks very good

Drove it home from the garage. They’d had it for a couple of days to fit new rear shock absorbers, and to fit a new door latch mechanism. All feels much improved now!
