Final bit of bodywork install after the respray - the luggage rack on the boot.
Laugh! I saw an add on eBay for some 1mm thick rubber and I wanted to make a liner to go under the rack pieces so I ordered a minimum size. I was thinking, from the pic I saw it was table mat size in width, so I ordered the minimum order meter length. I piece turned up today on a big parcelforce lorry and a roll appeared - it was 1.4m wide by 1 metre long. Total needed was about 30cm x 12cm for all four pieces. Lots of rubber to play with . . . .
I’ve never been able to source the original plastic covers that go over the rack parts so I managed to source 2.54cm width carbon fibre effect moulding.
I had the two rear strengthening bars powder coated and fitted back on the car today, Considering I have an ‘05 Launch Edition which is 18 going on towards 19 years old…these two rear bars are in amazing condition. I’ve seen plenty of these that are rotten with rust, but mine are like new….and no, they haven’t been replaced.
I am the sort of owner that you want to buy a car off…
After Tuesdays heavy rain and todays forecast of snow (it is ATM) I managed a wash day yesterday. Must admit it’s been tucked up in the garage far too much last month and this one so far.
Hello, can anyone advise how I post a new topic in the buy and sell area please, as I am looking fir parts, the new topic button does not work for me, many thanks.
Despite my best attempts to dissuade my daughter we are now a 2 NC family. Apparently a sensible Fiesta or similar is not the same. Anyway first job of many, the usual footwell issue. Off to the MX5 Restorer for some more work this weekend.
Changed the gearbox and diff oil today. An easy job TBH. Happily, the magnetic plugs had zero debris on either which is brilliant. There’s coming 61k on the car, and this is the second oil change for these two ‘boxes.
Car has been parked backward on a slope all last week. Noticed the dreaded damp passenger footwell today, so sorted that with the help of a youtube video, Also fitted new number plates and painted the area round the boot lights which had flaky paint on.
Desperate to get the wheels done and new tyres fitted but being patient as when its on stands for a few days will be a good time to paint the calipers. Roll on some better weather.
