What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Nice.

I’d be interested to hear how durable and long lasting your efforts are when you’ve run her for a while.

Cheers,
Guy

Black was a good choice.

After all this rain here in South Wales, finally a dry day to clean it. Took me about 3 hours inside and out. Cleaned, waxed (by hand), wheels treated and polished, engine bay cleaned, leather seats treated, car hoovered, and all glass polished. Looked good. Then about 30 mins after finishing. It rained… :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’ll make sure to report back!

I have to say the products were nice to work with, although it is my first time doing anything of the sort so I don’t really have anything to compare it with.

Looks good. Washed mine too after a trip to Tesco,Neath Abbey for fuel

Filled up Sport Black with E5 and gave it 20 miles of ‘loosen up’ driving.
Ready for spring!

Thanks! I never take mine to Tescos because of that speed bump just as you come into the site! Applegreen in Baglan is cheapest for fuel in the area. Also, if you want some decent cheap convertible roof cleaner, GSF car parts just around the corner from Tesco sells Auto Glym convertible roof cleaner for £23 ish. Cheapest I could find when i bought it 2 weeks ago :+1:

Probably brake noise, mine sometimes creaks when I’ve washed it and not took it around the block to dry off/clear the discs.

My handbrake gave a great metallic twang a few days ago and suddenly the car feels 30+hp faster.

I’d been driving around with the handbrake lever binding until I pulled the handbrake hard enough to break the bind.

Maybe this thread can help.

Probably needs a little lube somewhere, could be at the lever or the wheel.
Handbrake on the NC is self adjusting and as yet on two NC’s has never needed any maintenance apart from at each wheel, the normal strip clean/check brakes.
Pain in the b"" to set up a Mk1 handbrake and caliper rear adjust but easy once you’ve done it a few times.

I thought the mk1s were a great design for the time where you could wind the pistons out from the back till they contact the disc. Certainly easier than drums :+1:

Spent a couple of cold days under the car making a start on rust removal, treating with kurust, stone chip and some waxoyl.

The front of the car looked like the rear thats just visible which, will be done in March.

Agreed. Currently exclaiming “Oh my god look how clean that wheel well is” to my wife.

Wow.

Nothing too special this morning, an oil and filter change  £45 doing it myself… Opieoils is the best!

I put in a goldplug magnetic sump plug in during its last service and amazingly they work well, had a little bit of build up on the tip of it, so it shows that it keeps the oil clean of deposits.

So, this was done last Sunday - not had time to post…
I washed the car and then applied some Synergy Lite Sprayable Ceramic Coating from Infinity Wax.
Took about 75mins (excluding the wash stage) - this included wiping the car down with the Prep spray and then applying the coating and the final wipe down - as per the instructions
This is what it looked like after the wipedown.

Has rained on and off most days since then and today, the beading looks like this…

There is still the final stage - a wash to remove the ‘sacrificial layer’ - which I hope to do tomorrow.

Can you do this for others? For a fee of course!
