Fitted the slightly bigger Y15 Fyralip spoiler.
Colour match is near enough spot on!
I like that a lot. Nicer than the little one.
Took the Car in For its Mot then with a PASS…

Completed the suspension refurb on my 2004 svt sport with an alignment at Roddisons and I’m very happy! Blasted and powder-coated the wishbones, new IL Motorsport rubber bushes and new Bilstein dampers with original springs. Paul was really helpful and explained the compromises to be considered when choosing settings. When I picked the car up he said I’d be much happier with it. He was dead right! A big smile all the way home! ![]()

I managed to get most of it done, plus a little detailing of the plastics, rubbers and tyres etc.
Found this below on a market stall (for car detailing) but I think I’ve seen it in one of the big shed type stores, QD or Yorkshire Trading.
Auto Extreme for tyres, rubber and plastics, it wasn’t expensive (on the right) It does all that the others do in the one bottle, results good, it smells like Palmolive soap ![]()
Finished removing rust from the underside and got the first coat of rust encapsulator on everything. Feels like quite a big moment, basically from here on in it’s all finishing and reassembly. Also nice to finally know for sure that I’m not about to poke a rust patch with the wire wheel and have it turn out to be a big hole, this car was literally one winter away from needing welding so that’s pretty good.
Well, except that I’ve still got to do the same to all the subframe and rear suspension parts before I get those back in, but, at least I don’t have to do that lying on my back with rust falling like rain ![]()
Drove it into the garage, in readiness for (gulp) taking the door panel off, and replacing the speaker.
“The Gruffalo’s child was feeling bold …”
The local pub’s “barn” got blown down in some high winds and amongst some of the treasures unearthed during the site clearance was some poolballs… Now, what would a car enthusiast do with one of those?
Only 20 grams lighter than the OE leather knob that I had and I really like the feel of it. A cut off piece of heater hose around the stick holds the boot flush with the bottom of it.
Beggars can’t be choosers.
I do have an
but a) thought it a bit cliched b) I have a few red ones so could afford to mess some up (drilled with a hand drill not a pillar drill c) the red goes with the red RS sticker and my red MS-01R wheels.
If I can get access to a pillar drill I’ll drill and tap the
, I’d prefer black if I’m honest, as a change at least.
Like to look of yours with the extended shaft.
I like the look of that and might consider one for my 2-5,but would keep it shorter
Drop links. All obviously seized. Found it best to drop the rear ARB to get the top bolts off. Fronts were a ■■■■■■ had to resort to some hacksawing but got there in the end. Followed up with Lanoguard coating underneath.

Almost done now. Next step book a track day and get to know the car properly.
I’m weighing up ordering a Delrin shift knob for my NC, but the OG knob is so good and I don’t want to spend to find I’ve made a downgrade. Does the weight make a huge difference?
In my mind yes. Making it heavy went against all of Mazda’s “Gram Strategy”, they obviously thought it important too.
Nice day sun out and got around to fitting the Brake Rotors and wheel inserts also gave the underside a quick wipe over…
I’ve added some after market exhaust trims.
I also completed a gearbox and diff oil change with Redline MT-90 for the gearbox and Redline low shock oil for the diff.
BIG difference in the gearbox, no longer crashy and much quieter.
Here is a pic of the new exhaust trims. I am quite happy with the £60 outlay.
Just need a new numberplate now!
