Not technically mx5 but I knocked down my garage today to make way for a new garage (with a bedroom above this time).

Some nice bricks in that heap…

I’ll be saving as many as I can. At current prices, rather than skipping them all they’ll be going into a retaining wall. Well worth an afternoon cleaning them up :+1:.

Roof tiles too, reclaim/sell, always buyers.

Noticed the MX5 badge on my bootlid was all gunked up with green algae, so cleaned all that out.
Also, polished the headlamps again. The Devon sunshine was starting to cause a bloom after just a few weeks.
Can anyone recommend an effective anti uv sealant??

Car cover.

They’re a bit rough. Will make good hardcore though, nothing wasted. :+1:

Move to Northumberland, my NC is 13 years old and still no sign of headlight bloom caused by sunshine (whatever that is!)
All the best with the building project.

People will probably be happy to pay a fair bit for a weathered rooftile to match their broken one.

I used some 2k lacquer when I did mine on the NC2.

You need to use something over the top, after polishing. If you don’t want to buy another product, or don’t have any lacquer spare, some use a hard wax or a paintwork sealant, which will help and keep it at bay. But lacquer would be the most hard-wearing.

e.g. HB Body 2k Clear Coat Lacquer Aerosol Spray 400ml Fast Drying High Gloss | eBay

A bit of a busy couple of weeks with my 2009 NC Sport Tech (okay, technically not all done today)- car not starting, replaced cam position sensor and cleared codes…sorted, treated and sprayed infamous corrosion around rear numberplate lights, front discs/pads replaced, taking sill covers off today to check the Dinatrol treatment is still doing it’s job and just got round to fixing sticking hand brake button.

Had another eye operation last week so just started back with the dust cover for the engine lots to do but made the two small engine mounts, it will be secured with a thumb screw nut … long ways still to go …

A quick pic its just placed over the engine hence the slight lean to the right …

modding just for looks and for fun …!

Hope your recovery is going well but, judging by your eagerness to work on the car you must be feeling well.
You’re so talented, the skills you possess are amazing.
Chapeau Sir

Applied a ‘carbon fibre’ wrap to the gear lever surround. I do like a bit of bling and generally avoid the fashionable matte black trend but I found the chrome a bit bright and not especially pretty in this location.

Job before dinner this evening, fitted some new door cards to the track mx5 from

Bit more knee room and smartens up the interior a bit .

With the original silver ring around the gear lever looking pretty scuffed up from phones and bits by the previous owner. I tried to get a carbon wrap that was similar to the doors, but its a little more of a sheen, but looks better. If I find anything closer, its 10 mins to strip out and replace with other stuff, but for the time being happy on how it turned out.

So last night I changed the battery in the key.
I’ve been getting the warning message when starting the car for months now, but it started out only coming up quite infrequently but in the last week or two, it’s started saying in every other day or so (my car is a daily driver), so I though it was time to change before it refuses to work and strands me somewhere.

It’s quite fiddly but with the help of a youtube vid, did it in 5 minutes or so, but came out out the house this morning to find the boot undone. I must have caught the boot release button either during disassembly or reassembly (most likely both).

So always check your car after doing this job… it could have been worse though. It absolutely chucked it down last night after I’d changed the battery, and I used to have the boot lifters fitted, but took them off a couple of months ago - if they were still in place I’d have found a pond in the boot of my car this morning!
