LED Reversing Bulb
For once this was a 10 minute job! Makes a change.
Anyway, a good bright light to illuminate the blacked out Inn of Happiness car park.
Nice price & two year guarantee, assuming the seller is still around ofcourse…in the meantime in true Blues Brothers tradition, can you see the light?

As we all know MX5s are very addictive, but with garage space currently limiting ownership , spotted this lovely little MK1 which should fit alongside the MK3s and keep them company.

Nice but the legroom is severely limited in those.

installed DRL harness (so that the DRLs now stay on when the headlights come on, instead of turning off).
ive put a how-to in the Interior section for the NDs :+1:

Is this legal??

If they dim to half brightness, then yes, I believe so.

@999to5

as Jeff has said. Yes if you install to 50% brightness… – which comes with the harness adappter.

‘‘UK regulations briefly required vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1987 to be equipped with a dim-dip device or daytime running lamps, except such vehicles as comply fully with ECE Regulation 48 regarding installation of lighting equipment. A dim-dip device operates the low beam headlamps (called “dipped beam” in the UK) at between 10 percent and 20 percent of normal low-beam intensity. UK DRLs must emit at least 200 candela straight ahead, and no more than 800 candela in any direction. These regulatory provisions were based on ILPE research and recommendations’’

There are other cars on the market, which you will see at night, happily running around with DRLs on at night… BUT they reduce the bulb intensitity by 50% when the headlights come on.
Same as this kit…

so in short yes. unless an MOT tester starts measuring lumens during MOT time, its not going to look odd or off to the eye.

Many older drivers have enough trouble at night with the bright lights of oncoming cars. This is not going to help. ND headlights and sidelights are quite adequate on their own without the need for any additional lights.

I am still getting used to owning the MX5, sitting so low down and the on coming headlights of other cars at night makes me wince if I am not quick to look to the left. Was much less of an issue in my past vehicle, lifted Jeep Wrangler on 35" tires lol. Needed a bliddy step ladder to get in haha. Falling out wasn’t an issue tho

Technically yesterday, but solved the dipstick conundrum. I have an NC with the weird aluminium blob on a wire rope style dipstick. I find that taking a reading is a bit like teaching Baldrick mathematics; the answer is always “Some oil.” Given the NC1.8’s known pernickety-ness about oil, this is less than ideal.
After some reading on here and elsewhere, I used a needle file to transfer the markings to the side of the blob, and lightly roughened the surface between the two marks. I can now see that it is bang full, rather than just having “Some oil.” Excellent!
To celebrate, I took Mrs Five-Three the long way to the garden centre, for an absolutely terrible cup of coffee. Oh well, can’t win 'em all…

NC diff carrier , de-bushed using the drill, hacksaw, hammer , bust thumb , skin off knuckle , swearing technique

Cleaned and painted because maybe a spider will wander that way when cars stored in garage, and I’d hate for it to look grubby.

Poly bushes to go in…once ordered.
