The new ZetaSports now back in stock so ordered up a set for my NC to replaced the tired Bilsteins. 60k on the odo and it sometimes feels like I’ve only got 3 wheels on so hopefully this’ll sort the handling.
Going into trusted garage on Thursday to have a poke about to see if anything else needs replacing such as bushes or arms - gives me time to get bits ordered. Will likely DIY on the driveway and get the garage to set them up properly afterwards.
Gave it a well-needed wash. It’s still crying out for a touch up in spots plus a proper machine polish to bring out some of that Sparkling Black flake but that’s on hold until Spring.
Products used were Bilt Hamber Surfex HD and Touchless snow foam for pre wash, Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo, followed up with PoorBoys Black Hole glaze and topped with Turtle Wax Ice Seal n Shine spray sealant. I love the Turtle Wax stuff as you can zip round the car including the glass and results, well, they speak for themselves - useful as a drying aid too.
Not stereotyping, more tongue-in-cheek. My wife used to work in a mental health residential home, and once managed to talk a “client” out of jumping off a multi-storey car park roof so definitely not stupid. She will however, sometimes do things without thinking. In my previous job i was in charge of eight blokes and 50% of them were “below par”. It’s definitely not just women.
Did a trial electrical fitting of Magneti Marelli DRL’s, watched the video on youtube, which was posted about 3 years ago, but from my experience of some youtube video’s they don’t quite show or explain everything… anyway the electrical connections went fine, no issues thankfully, DRL’s came on when ignition switch on and turned off when the sidelights/headlights turned on. Next steps remove the current fog lamps and replace with the DRL’s, when the weather is a little bit warmer.
So true and ditto your wife [as WPC had to encourage stressed out female to take the bread knife away from her 6 yr olds’ throat and we’d find another way to remove her ex-partner from the property…also rescued chap who made a suicidal leap off town bridge…got a fit of the giggles as we rowed out to him and the boat started to leak… ]
Ditto…numpty moments [hmmm…first officer to receive 6 month ban driving police vehicles due to wrong decision]
Thanks for listening Barnetfair1 …great to hear from chap who recognises any gender can ‘Foxtrot Uniform’
Time to start the winter tinkering , I did plan to start last weekend but it was too cold and the fuel pump in my diesel heater failed ……… First job get him up on stands and spray every bolt I plan to touch with penetrating fluid and leave for a day , main job will be LSD swap from 3.7:1 to 4.1:1 , should liven things up a bit , then check /service brakes and replace fluid . Also swap to a lithium battery (doesn’t need to be in the air for that lol)
Exactly!
We used to work in police stations frequently, and sometimes saw unpleasant stuff, but even that probably doesn’t compare the nasty things you must have witnessed as a serving officer. Much Respect.
This all started due to OEM clips holding air intake hose needing replacement due to being crap and corroding. Which looked unsightly in engine bay. So…
New silicone air intake hose
Sound tube delete ( purely for uncluttering engine bay, sports exhaust provides all noise needed ), using versus engineering aluminium component
And began the install of aluminium pedals. One thing I’ll say on the IL pedals… ignore the instructions. Heat the rubber with missus hairdryer. start install at top, then use a bicycle tyre leve ( the hook end ) to pull down and over the bottom simple. Doing bottom last with tyre lever gives you space and ability to pull down and over. Whereas at top space is limited and unnatural position to pull up
Accepting that Tizzy isn’t putting out as much power as I thought, the leap from 175 to 250 will be a worthwhile difference. Booked in for a BBR Stage 1 Supercharger for the end of Feb.
Unboxed these bad boys, new MeisterR ZetaSports and adjusters. Ordered late on the 21st, arrived safely last night. Still a fair bit of work to do sorting bushes and such before fitting but they’re here…finally.
Although technically not mine, I replaced the passenger side window regulator on my sisters RF today after it failed last night. I released the splayed cable from the regulator and gaffer taped a small piece of wood to the regulator arm to hold the window almost (fully up) overnight.

I was still waiting on my Mazda dealer to call me back so went along to Arnold Clark Parts in Glasgow and picked one up, £58. I always forget to take plenty pictures but hopefully this will explain how to replace it well enough - it was an easy job.
A Philips screwdriver is required for the 2 screws on the door panel. Hold the door pull handle open and from the left just pull the cover off. There is a rubber insert in the the lower section which just “peels” out. There are poppers around the door so I started from the bottom left and pulled out, none broke.
You will need a 10mm (blue) and 14mm (green) socket for the nuts. The plastic cover uses 10mm nuts to secure it, remove these and fold the panel down out the way (I didn’t remove all the cable retaining fixings). Circled in yellow are 3 connectors that need unplugged. To release the glass from the regulator, first undo 1,2 and 3 and then to remove it you will need to undo 4 and 5. These 2 hold prevent the glass from being removed once you’ve undone it from the regulator. Lifting the glass up and out required a shimmy left and right as I went but it came out easily enough.
The motor is secured by 3 x 10mm nuts on the right side. The regulator arm is secured by 2 x 14mm nuts at the top and 1 x 14mm nut at the bottom. The 14mm nuts were surprisingly quite tight. Undo these and the regulator and motor can be removed through the gap.
Removing the motor involves bending (flat head screwdriver helped here) 3 tabs (marked red in the pic below)and prying the old regulator out. I found it quite tricky bending the new regulator tabs fully back on to the motor so used strong cable ties (marked green) as added protection against it “exploding”. With only one pair of hands it was easy to match up the new regulator with the motor using one hand to hold them together before using snips to clip the white cable tie off. This stops the cable from spinning out - you don’t want this to happen.
For the part? I called Macklin Mazda and a lady took my number and said someone would call me back - still waiting. I then called Arnold Clark Autoparts (the number on the site had me on hold for 20 minutes so I hung up and called the number on Google, answered immediately) gave them the p/n and they said they had loads in stock so I collected it an hour later from their branch on South Street in Glasgow.
We were really lucky for the 2024 season of sprints to not need any wet tyres but thought would not risk for the 2025 season so just picked up some wet options (for a decent enough price) we can have with us. will need some use before track so may put them on the road MX5 for some miles first
