I am like you will always find something i can remove, spray , or clean lol
Disappointing day yesterday. Put Tizzy on a dyno to get an idea of what a Racing Beat decat manifold, sport cat centre, cold air intake and remap give you. Only 171bhp. Need to relieve a bank of £6k for a supercharger.
Did you get a dyno run before making any changes? Also what cold air intake are you using?
What did i do today?
Lost my temper, twice.
Firstly, seized calliper on the front. finally got the parts delivered. got car in the air to fit. WHERE IS MY TOOLBOX? After much searching only logical answer is that the wife threw it out in the tip run a couple of weeks ago along with other rubbish that was in the garage. because i was using it only a few weeks ago to fix a leak on her car. Fuming.
After calming down i went for some other small wins. fitted stubby aerial ive had for a while, and the boot illumination kit.
Then comes the next one - the side LED corners. fitted when i purchased the car they were clear. but now a mouldy colour and 2 have stopped worked, presumably due to water ingress. so ive just taken off the fender liner to fit the new replacements.
Some numb nut has decided to run their own wiring! its a non standard live and random earthing! so my plug and play replacement just got launched across the garden at pace.
not bloody happy. officially rage quit for the day.
I feel for you mate
Iāve lost my temper 4 times this afternoonā¦
Every time Bournemouth scored against Newcastle
Most of the engine performance changes were done before I owned the car, so no idea what she was before (standard I guess)ā¦and since they were by Blink Motorsport (Tizzy was their car) I had high hopes.
I fitted a RamAir cold air induction kit.
Ah I see, yep I know Blink. Still sorely missed, especially as they were just down the road from here!
But if it were me, Iād retest with the same mods, but with the standard air box in place
Also, what map are you running?
Cheers,
Steve
No ideaā¦Blink set up. 2 maps, switchable via the cruise control buttons, one faster than the other
Interesting. I kept all the parts so might try that, though I do feel it made a difference when I switched
That made me laugh at first, and then i thought, my wife would do exactly that! Every sympathy for you mate, especially when you have to sort someone elseās balls up.
Phewā¦
Glad Iām not your wifeā¦
Why would she throw out your tool box unless it was āwith other rubbish that was in the garageā for the Tip Run
You mean
Left his tool box near āother rubbish in the garageā for the Tip Run and expected his wife to be telepathic
Hmmā¦
It reminds me of the time when my late husband/then Fiancee moved from Romford to York
Me: Leave the two step ladders in the garageā¦they belong to my Employer
Said Step Ladders arrived in York !!
Had to ring Employer to apologise and offer to pay for their step ladders
Bless themā¦they said āDo you mean those cream crackered step laddersā
Confusedā¦āNo they are good step ladders !ā
My employer wrote them off
Some folk male or female just donāt have a āpractical mindā
Or can āmind readā what is in our heads
Or can follow āsimple instructionsā
Continued with my poly bush upgrade.
So these arms are new⦠aftermarket jobs costing £50 apposed to £120 genuine.
Pretty solid unit, good quality welds and decent looking ball joint.
On removing bushes I found rubber to be quite soft, inner sleeve plain mild steel.
Thenā¦bush housing id is 38.5mm new poly bush od 38mm, so they fell right in.
Once inner sleeve inserted they did expand and āgripā
Think Iāll wrap PTFE tape around bushes before final fitment. Hopefully this will help prevent any possible play Iām concerned aboutā¦time will tell
Fitted the 6-pot front calipers
All went well, except for the brake bleed. after borrowing tool sets from someone else, i had almot everything. but couldnt find an open ended 1/4" for the bleed nipple. so lots of messing around taking the bleed pipe on and off while locking / unlocking it.
aaaand then forgot to check the reservoir. (face plant), just when it was nearly done i took in air and had to start all over from all 4 corners. bugga.
other than tht, all good.
been out for a drive. the fronts feel very smooth and supple. huge braking power, locked the front wheels very easily with what felt like 60% brake force in the foot. (after bedding in for a while).
Now onto the rears.
pics below. (look at the state of those OEMs! hadnt realised they were so bad.)
In terms of bleeding the brakes thats why I recommended the speedbleeders, saves a lot of messing about.
i must confess i completely forgot about your recommendation until halfway through, when i remembered to myself 'āah, i think Blue mentioned something about theseā but i was already making an oily mess everywhere by this point.
will get one for next time
Or she could have opened what looks like a box with valuable tools in it.
Fitted a new Yuasa battery in the 2l Miyako.
The old Bosch was always a lttle lazy and then wouldnāt hold a charge,
This one is much better.
More coats of paint on rear arms.
Took delivery of a sheet of 5mm aluminium to fabricate centre cross chassis brace.
Then out of the blue⦠decided to use liquid sander on my windscreen scuttle plastics and prime them up for an eventual coat of satin black
Donāt disagreeā¦itās what I would have done
Common Sense you would think ?
But some folk donāt seem to have that either [e.g. my late husband] ā¦paying an untested trades person loadsofmoney up front before work completed [trades person took the money and ran]
And even though Iād be well miffed if my late husband had taken my tools to the dump [except he couldnāt because he didnāt drive]
Tools are not āaliveā even though we all have our favourites
Late hubbie failed to lock front and back door in York and then let the sweet Iād trained to talk Budgie out when we knew a gust of wind would open both doorsā¦Budgie gone
Left the cage out and looked every where for that Budgieā¦calling him [images of him being killed by the wild birds]
Suspect why Iāve reacted to yours and DirtyHabit post about āyour wivesā is the apparent āstereotypingā of us females
I shouldnāt speak ill of the dead but my late hubbie was about as practical as a ārattlesnake in a lucky dipā
