Hi Malc yes they are as the other poster said Yokohama Advan Neovas AD08 RS. They came with the second set of wheels i bought for track days. Ive been impressed with them, i wouldnt’ say they offer much more grip than the Falken tyres that are on my roadset but they do have a stiffer sidewall and the wear on them is very good. Ive now done 6 track days on them , and theyve still got about 4mm tread depth across the tyre. And i do go hard on track days!
New caliper, disc and pads on. Some black hammrite on what’s left of the backing plate. Annoyingly, I still have a horrid vibration at around 60mph as well as an unsettling “shimmy” from the back over bumps and on sharp lefts. There’s minor kerbing on the front wheels so all 4 are getting refurbed in a couple of weeks, as well as switching out the CrossClimate2’s for something a bit more appropriate for this smashing weather. Waiting on stock of new rear toe arms which will go on along with whateveryoucallthearms that the drop links bolt to. That means every arm will have been replaced.
The ZetaSports have had a couple of weeks to settle now but the car is in desperate need of another going over as it’s really unnverving to drive at the moment. It was initially set up with a “fast road” alignment but it’s not right, somewhere. Hopefully the combination of the last 2 (well, 4) rear arms, the new tyres and another alignment will sort it and I can actually start enjoying the car. Sad to say but it’s not been fun at all going from A to B recently hence why I’ve spent more time cleaning it than driving it!
I have the same wheels. Also generally known as ‘shadow chrome’ I think. Created by spraying a coating of silver over black. Almost impossible to match so if they ever need refirbishing you need to get two on the same side done at least so they match each other.
Just looked at my NC thinking it needs a wash and a polish but I’m too cream crackered. Maybe tomorrow.
Spent the afternoon at Vincents Motor Works, getting the MX’s 4 wheel alignment done. Excellent results, very pleased with Vincent’s handiwork. Highly recommended.
Removed standard bushes from new rear toe arms for my NC.
Sanded down and applied 4 coats of enamel paint.
Once cured Strongflex bushes to go in.
Took delivery and fitted Polybush AY27 dynamic bushes into my diff carrier.
Opted for these apposed to Strongflex as they are a little more forgiving than standard 70 shore poly bushes (apparently), meaning less cabin vibration…time will tell.
A quick check over this evening, ahead of MoT tomorrow. Standard wheels are at the refurbers, so the winters stay on
Don’t forget a drive out as well - it’s lovely out there, if here in Cheshire is anything to go by!
Absolutely!
Why is it that the 2nd or 3rd wash after a polish/wax always seems to have a car looking better?
And B&W makes it looks artsy!?
Wax doing it’s job?
Nice one!
New IL motorsport catless header & backbox ( Really cracking good quality & design- highly recommended). Then a remapping session with the awesome brothers at Performance Link!
Totally agree about the B&W thing, and i love the lockscreen…well done!
Decided to give the interior a bit of a spruce up by dropping in a set of leather seats to replace the cloth ones, while I was at it I swapped out the panel that houses the cigarette lighter and fitted one with switches for the heated seats hooked it all up and success I now have much nicer looking seats that I can make nice and warm at the flick of a switch just in time for the start of the good weather.
I also fitted a set of Jass Performance 2.5 lowering brackets to the drivers side so I can be a lot more comfortable in the car.
Next week I’m (with the aid of a couple of mates) going to be pulling the entire rear end off the car to replace the rotten rear subframe, fit poly bushes, RX-8 yellow dot ARB’s and a Gravity Performance back box with decat pipe. Then it’s off to a local JDM specialist to get the car aligned and it should be pretty much ready for summer.
The box on rear cubby hole ?
