Started this job a couple of weeks back…

Changed out the power steering fluid (ATF) using Castrol Transmax ATF DX III Multivehicle 1L for £12 from Amazon. Bought 2L but didn’t need the 2nd. Didn’t jack the car up but stacked 2 melamine boards to make turning the wheels on the drive effortless.

My 2014 car has just ticked over 65000 miles and had 11 services at a Mazda main dealer including a recent major and this was supposed to have been changed then. I’ve now gone and ordered a full fluid service kit and will be doing oil, gearbox and diff next week along with new OEM filters for peace of mind - the engine oil is due anyway.

Couple of hours in the man cave today…

Second front caliper stripped down , buffed and prepped for refurb.

Also sanded down a pair of 3D printed wing vents and gave them a couple of coats of primer.

Charged the battery , took delivery of Dinitrol 1000 cavity wax and a pair of front brake dust shields.

I started in November with doing the brakes and have accidentally since done, shocks, springs, exhaust, new wheels, made a back bumper (almost done), custom taillights, welded one rear panel with one to go (luckily that’s all the rust on it). Now to finish sanding and paint it so I can finally drive it again! Hopefully it will be driving again by the end of June!

I use same product :+1::+1::heart:

New rear tyres fitted (Kumho) to my ND this week and just had a new windscreen fitted including new top and side trims.

A word of caution to ND owners - thermal shock (hot to cold) is a real thing.

A little bit of ND in my NC! :smiley:

Made another visit to Performance Link in Tewkesbury today for a rolling road session and to fit the JBR diff carrier. Excellent care as usual from Alex and Tom, these guys are super knowledgeable! Pity I can’t afford a Honda PL-R K24 engine swap! Can’t recommend them enough.

Trying my hand at working with sheepskin - four squares of short fleece all sew together this morning. Am fed up of a sweaty bahookie when the weather is anywhere north of warm so in the process of making a sheepskin ‘half’ seat cover. Yet to add strap/buckle securing points etc but I’m hopefully going in the right direction!!!

Not today but yesterday I took the NC to get MOT’d, I’ve put a LOT of work into it over the last couple of months including a new rear subframe, control arms and a significant amount of rust removal/welding in new sections.
About lunchtime I got the notification on the MOT checker app (Vehicle Smart) that it’d failed, apprehensively I clicked on the notification to discover that it’d failed because the number plates didn’t confirm to the current specification. Two new plates later and it’s been given a clean bill of health with only a couple of minor advisories that I already knew about.
The tester said it was one of the cleanest MX5’s underneath that he’d seen and it’s really obvious that I’ve spent a lot of time underneath it.
I’m really happy that all the work I’ve done has been worth it and I’m happy to put my 8 year old daughter into the passenger seat and drive her around again.

They do make an impression . After a tiny blemish on our exhaust tip was also pointed out last week, it’s now as shiny as a shiny thing :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Will be showing off the shine at Lytham tomorrow :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
