What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Hmmm… Replace the NC1 centre console with that from NC2… Much nicer design ., lightly padded… And stops the lid opening every time you change gear !!

Can get what you need from online breakers but will need everything from the back of the console right up to a new radio surround and including the little side pieces and gear lever / handbrake gaiters

And yes the NC1 heated seat switches DO fit the NC2/3 panel

Cost? Around £150

Front pads and discs changed at NDB in Norwich. I had the car booked in for tomorrow but a slot opened up this afternoon and they had me in and the brakes done in no time. If you’re anywhere near Norwich then I really can’t recommend @pitcrew_chris and the guys at NDB enough.

Absolutely, definitely, the last bit of interior wrapping - honest! This time, the panels on either side of the radio.

I’m quite happy - it fits in with everything else I’ve done and doesn’t look obtrusive, plus is a little nicer to lean my knee against when driving.

Considering this is using flat sheet material, while there is a bit of stretch there are a couple of places where I have had to bow to physics and put a dart or patch in around extreme curves, but the nap of the fabric hides it quite effectively.

Just paid final part of importing excellent condition graphite SSR Type C wheels from Japan.
10 weeks to deliver. But…£442 purchase price (up garage), £50 for pick up, packaging and sending Japan side. (zen market) £134 vat, customs duty and delivery uk side. Total £626. I took a punt here but it came off. Also had an apprently almost new 1.8 prop for £80 door to door. And some black and white chequered origional roadster mats. About £100 door to door (en route) happy to discuss this process. Beats the hell out of optomistic UK prices.

I did the same mod to the same interior panels in my NC1 a while ago using black self adhesive felt, looks so much nicer and adds a subtle touch of class to the cockpit.

Finally changed the original steering wheel to a royal wheels in alcantara and perforated leather seriously pleased it’s so much nicer to hold

Slightly thicker, I opted against the flat bottom just personal preference

That’s very nice , how much was that ?

Fitted a connector from Amazon that allows me to plug my phone in via usb socket and charge it at the same time.

think is was under £200 plus £150 deposit for the exchange wheel not 100% sure it was a 40th birthday present from mother. I had the momo martini wheel done in my other car for my 30th it’s fully alcantara hence wanting some in the MX-5

Well worth it!

I had cruise control fitted in my 2012 1.8 Kuro !

Must be the best £100 I’ve ever spent ?!

I’ve never really liked using cruise control. My wife uses it all the time on her Renault but i think I’m a bit too old school for it. Just don’t feel comfortable with it for some reason.

I love it - especially for average speed cameras, 30 mph sections etc

Second anniversary of buying the ND so have spent the week doing an annual service as the weather has been rubbish and I dont like having the car laid up on fine days. Oil and filter plus a good once over and undercarriage clean. Forecast for tomorrow on is good so should get it back on its wheels today and ready for action.

I’ve only had my NC for a few days, I’ve already purchased a cover from Classic Additions, replacement center wheel caps from MX5City, Disklok and treated my feet to a pair of Red Bareclutch L shoes for driving :joy:

Additionally, I’m looking at replacing the tyres, even though the tread is pretty good, all 4 tyres have cracks on the outer tread. I will also be looking at replacing the wipers as the wipers have some rust. The license plates will get replacement screws and caps.

Might I suggest using anti theft screws available from Amazon?

I did see them come up while searching, i wasn’t sure if they were needed

I guess it depends on the car and where you live?:slightly_smiling_face:
