What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

The boot lid liner looks great, how have you got on with it long term?

I replaced the chrome grille surround with a black gloss one from MX-5 parts. You’ll also need the black bumper grille insert.

You need to remove the bumper,.

Once removed, it’s advisable to heat the plastic clips up a little to stop them from breaking when you take the chrome surround off the grille. Is then a simple case of clipping on the new piece and putting it back together. Whist the bumper was off I had the fog light surrounds painted black to remove the silver colour there as well. :+1:

It just looks like a soft top, so no worries

Cleaned my backside, before (I thought) putting it away for the winter - unless it’s dry and sunny - however as my (only) 5 year old mini auto box has exploded  the 20 year old MX-5 has come to the rescue as my daily driver

Nice work! Its a nice feeling knowing the bits you can’t see are as good as the bits you can see.

Top work. Well worth doing.

I did mine 3 years ago and so glad I caught all the surface rust behind there!

I fixed mine by removing it ! And replacing with an aluminium panel with carbon fibre (looking) wrap. I like the clean lines it gives the back of the car

It’s only held on with Velcro around the sides and occasionally they peel away from the paintwork, so I superglue them when that happens. It also sags a little in the middle. I’ve stiffened it by sewing strips of plastic behind but it’s not as good as I would like. Ideally it would be secured in the middle but I’m out of ideas.

Finally finished undersealing my ND with Bilt Hamber Dynax UB-UC-S-50. Proper job without blathering it everywhere, concentrated on cavities, welds and seams, so it still looks nice underneath. Happy with Bilt Hamber products, leaves a nice finish that isn’t sticky, although the cans don’t go far and it’s quite expensive. Took a while. It’s a messy job you end up being covered head to toe in a sticky glue like film.

Car now looks like new underneath, very tidy for a 2021 with no rust anywhere.

You can’t beat a black NC.

Love a daily, nothing better than putting daily dirt on clean rather than daily dirt on dirt.

Just fitted two 18" PIAA Aero Vogue Wipers. I had previously replaced the older ones with Denso wipers, however, they started to chatter and rub like crazy over the last few days even with the screen being treated with Soft99 Glaco.

I’ve used PIAA on the other cars we’ve had and I’ve always been happy with the quality even though they are a bit more expensive than others.

Sport Black.
