Which of the dark 2 do you prefer?
I was originally going for the grey and bought a can of spray over Christmas. But then I tried it on a bit of scrap metal plate and decided the grey is too close to the galaxy grey on car. So Iâm now thinking satin black with red callipers looks better.
Iâd love to know what others on here think though.
The OEM silver does look good and my wheels are in pretty good Nick bar the near side rear which has a small bit of kerb rash. Iâm planning to paint callipers red and for them to stand out I think the wheels need to be darker.
What do you think? Take it youâve a galaxy grey too?
No mine is pearl white, but I love the grey
I think the black with red calipers is definitely the most striking. You might find a âtrue" black harder to live with though, as it will almost certainly always be darker that very new/ clean tyres & that doesnât suit everyone.
The grey almost matches you paint & has a cool stealth look, might look great with some light gold calipers.

Thatâs a good point you make about the tyres. So I gave CHAT GPT another run asking it to make the grey wheels more gloss and add the red callipers. What do you think?
Love it !
Yeah, me too. I didnât try the gold coz Iâve added started adding a few little extras in red like footwell lights, mats etc. The spending never endsđ
I know itâs just me but i find red, or any colour, calipers a bit tacky.
Mine is too, but I know where everything is until I need it then itâs missing as a result I have two battery chargers, three tyre pressure gauges, three adjustable spannerâs, two trolly jacks etcâŚ
So after 10 years and 55k Iâve replaced the original Panasonic battery. I was going to do it last year, but it was alright once the weather warmed up. This week I drew the line after having to boost it to start every time I took the car out. Shiny new Yuasa HSB053 installed.
About this time last year I noticed my Ankha wind deflector mounting brackets were showing stress cracks around the bolt holes. These are 3D printed and I know nowt about the process or materials. Did a quick fix by wicking CA glue into the cracks and finally got around to making a proper repair over the New Year break. Ankha supplied spare parts withe the deflector so I fitted those. I used Permatex silicone gasket maker to fill the void between the brackets and the perspex to bond the parts together rather than rely on a mechanical joint. Replaced the bolts with SS and used them solely to locate the brackets - they are only finger tight and locked with Loctite 290 wick-in. Time will tell if this will be better but it has eliminated the clamping load from the bolts.
While doing this fix I added the first bling for 2026 in the form of a Mazda sticker!
The original silver? ![]()
Hi Bol.
Does this allow you to âCastâ an Android phone screen app (e.g. Google Maps) onto the MZR display, say on an 2019 ND, with full functionality, without having to upgrade the MZR display control unit, USB interface panel and wiring etc and without having to update the MZR firmware issue?
Cheers.
I use this JMCQ 2024 Hot Wireless CarPlay Box Android Auto Adapt For Wired CarPlay Display To Wireless Smart Box Linux System OEM Upgrade - AliExpress 34 and yes it does so I would expect the one refered to does as well.

I already had a wired CarPlay module installed. All it does is replace the wire as far as I know. I donât think there is anything that can cast functionality to the existing screen that it isnât already equipped for, but I could be wrong.
What you say is correct, it âcastsâ the phone screen to the cars screen wirelessly.

So. If I get you correctlyâŚit doesnât allow you to access Android Auto on the the cars MZR display unless you already have the Android Auto facility built into the MZR control unit? It just allows you to have the Android phone wirelessly connected to the car display i.e. without using a USB cable?
I thought it was too good to be true ![]()
I may be being a bit slow here, but----You have access on the Mazda screen to Android Auto and have Waze, Google Maps and whole host of other icons available and control them from the Mazda. Access and use is exactly the same as if you had it connected by the cable.
If you can not connect with a cable then the dongle will not do anything for you.
Please be patient with me but what am I not understanding. Remember I am very old.

I think the penny has finally dropped. You hoped that the dongle would get you Android Auto on earlier cars that did not have the Android Auto facility.
You are correct, it does not.

I was just typing a response to that effect, but you beat me too it. I thought it seemed too good to be true
. Thanks for trying to help though.
