Interested in what you think of that airbox.
Got terrible heat soak after 10 minutes driving in the sun yesterday!
Just shielded my direnza filter and malian UEL manifold, but if be surprised if it’s a long term fix.

Once everything in the engine bay is hot, including the carefully applied shielding ,unfortunately that is when your heat soak effect is going to be worse, especially if the car isn’t moving much. Ideally, an air box is closed so that it can only suck in air from out side the engine bay.
I can see that you have added some foam stuff around the rim of the air box to help it seal against the underside of the bonnet, which is probably helping some.
Other things to try would include getting more ventilation into the air box, like the snorkel device or making more holes in the front panels which is a bit extreme unless you are planning a lot of track work.
Just a half arsed idea. Some foil backed sound proofing panels stuck to the underside of the of the bonnet directly above the air box might further help with that seal.
I have a few 2mm thick panels left over from sound deadening my boot recently you’d be welcome to, if you want to experiment.
Id be tempted to fabricate a lid for the box.
Heat reflecting aluminium tape is available, used this during annealing process in the oil industry to protect polymer layers on pipes.
It’s excellent stuff but £80 a roll ![]()
A lot cheaper here
Changed the stock Sony to something with USB and Bluetooth. Bet the best bit about replacing the stock stereo on an NB?
Getting rid of that annoying bleepy thing after the ignition goes off. What even is that?
It’s the Sony audio reminder to take the removable stereo faceplate with you ![]()
Luckily, a recent hail storm uncovered that I had a small leak from my scuttle grommets, the ice pooled at the bottom of the windshield and I think that’s what made it noticeable in the form of water pooling on the rubber floor mats, otherwise I don’t think I’d have noticed until later once the leak had become worse.
They had actually been done last year when I bought the car, but as you can see from the pics below, they didnt do a good job.
So I decided to tackle it myself, bought some flowable silicone to ensure that it filled all the gaps. I also replaced the grommets but decided not to fit the rubber gaskets, I figured that silicone would last longer and provide a better seal. Only time will tell.
Before
After (I didnt do those scratches, either the previous owner or the guy who fixed it for the dealer did)
Proper sprayer or rattle can? Looks amazing if it’s the latter.
Rattle cans. Base coat + 2k laquer
I don’t know how some can make an easy task like remove a plug, fit new washer and replace plug such a disaster.![]()
4hr round trip to Royal Steering Wheels to get a new wheel fitted. Half alcantara/leather which also increases thickness by 2mm. Also flat bottom and grey stripe/stitching which nicely matches the aero gray interior.
More importantly it’s absolutely lovely in the hand and I can’t overestimate how different it makes the car feel to drive.
Same as mine, your right much better than the original
I’ve just got the il motorsport arm rest, that’s a great addition too
You do know that the tuxedo type cat is almost always a mot failure.
Was getting the new one on equally challenging? I’ve been considering this job to fit extended lug nuts
