What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Did you check the gear oil level in there?

Swapped the washer jets for some Ford Maverick ones off ebay, following a googling.
Spray and coverage is now spot on compared to the original dribbles I was getting.

Cleaned, regreased and rebushed the drivers door window.

It is still slow. But faster than the passenger side.

After receiving my Cat-Bypass Pipe, I underwent the ‘easy’ job of removing the old cat and replacing with the shiny new pipe! Four very tight bolts and a very achy neck later, job done. My intention was to hopefully discover the original cat, check the code, and get payed a pretty penny for it. However, I cant seem to find the code anywhere on it, despite lots of cleaning. Any ideas anyone? I’m not sure if any aftermarket cats had codes on? But that would help solve the mystery if I knew…

Anyway, the result was a deeper burble at low revs, a slight rasp at high revs and what feels like a smoother run up through the revs (and potentially quicker too). One thing I did notice, however, was lower oil pressure on the gauge, which I have read about before. I’m thinking it could be due to less back pressure, resulting in less pressure in the engine, but I’m also not sure if that’s possible…

Cool…
What happens at mot time?

As my car is a '93 import, it doesn’t require a cat. It gets tested to a standard emissions value way higher than the UK value as well.

Fitted Dynamat Xtreme insulation. Managed to cut myself twice before putting on leather gloves. It’s very sharp.

That’s great Mick! Well done on the sale, can’t wait to see the new car :+1:

Barrie

Sad but true Barrie, I worried last night, hoping the buyer got back home ok with the car, it was getting dark.
Great bloke, absolutely pleased with the car, he’d viewed a few rusty ones. I just knew the first viewing would get it sold, just getting them here to view.

Like yours, who could walk away having viewed it, it’s like buying a new car with everything you’ve had done to it.:+1:
