What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Replaced the old cracked washer jets with the smart Ford Maverick ones. It’s the little things!

Why Ford Msverick in particular - are they readily available?
Must admit, the oem ones are pretty ■■■■

The Ford Maverick ones are a known easy upgrade to get a fan spray as opposed to jets.

I found them on Ebay, free delivery and about £13 for both. They were cheaper than the OEM ones, and seem pretty good! The spray is very effective, however not advised to spray when stationary with the top down!

I think that was the only drawback, they weren’t adjustable

My NC2 has spray pattern nozzles but the pattern is poor - too low.

Do they just snap into place??

I’ve not heard about them being used on a Mk3

Ah yes, these ones clip into the bonnet.
Mine are on the scuttle cover.
Oh well…

Replaced the slider pins on both front callipers which has cured the clunking that has reappeared the past week or two. A quick test drive and all is good and quiet. Just remember that the pin with the rubber sleeve goes into the bottom mount.

They look identical to the ones I got off eBay the other day, fitted them but not actually used them to see what pattern they are :joy: they were listed as mx5 ones so probably the craep ones

They look like a jet as opposed to a spray. The horizontal spray type kinda have an oblong opening. But they all do the job!

I did mine a week or so ago but had to dispense with the rubber grommet thingies that fitted nicely with the original jets that kept them nicely seated in the bonnet of my NA. Found the Maverick ones to be too short to attach the grommets back on so had to use some additional tubing. They’re a bit loose as a result. But the spray performance over the OEM ones outweighs that particular con.

That’s a shame. I managed to stick the tube right up against the hole in the bonnet, and was able to push the washer jet down on to it. Was all a bit tight. Maybe with the longer hosing you could manage to but the little pad back on?

Had bilstein shocks and eibach springs put in while it was serviced and MOT’d. Doesn’t look much lower but it certainly feels sharper and flatter on corners. Will wait and see if it settles lower.

Were they MX-5 specialists?
It doesn’t seem uncommon for even professionals to tighten the bolts when the car is on the lift with wheels off (easy access) rather than off the lift with wheels on ( less easy access).

Yes, very much so.

Hmm, thanks, may try again in that case…

I’m busy messing my MX5 for sale advert up, The advert started off nice and tidy now it looks a complete mess. I’m 81 years old so perhaps there’s an excuse for my mad behaviour, As for my MX5 NC I’ve waxed it so often It’s now about a Foot wider … anyway you guys have a good weekend… best regards from Ray Hill. Incidentally I noted that someone on here mentioned that waxing a car is a wast of time, I agree When we wax a modern car we are simply waxing The lacquer coat ! On old cars you actually polished the paint itself. Today that paint is below several coats of clear lacquer. Secondly. I once spoke to a chauffeur about how clean his car was “ what polish do you use “ I asked … He replied “” Polish “” “” no just a wash and dry and a Polish of the paintwork with a dry rag. The car was a Jaguar MK 9 Probably just paint no lacquer etc…

Looks fine to me, I’ve recently sold mine for the same asking price, same year too but red.
Worth every penny me thinks.:+1:

Too short also for my Eunos Roadster. I extended a tiny bit and then managed to re-fit the rubber grommets underneath.
