You’re right. All done. The best £13.72 I spent. All the way from China for a new one.

Today I did this

with this

It came out OK. The marks are just from washing the car afterwards.

Today I received the wiper stalk from China and fitted that

Previously I have put in new door bushings

New smoked acrylic wind deflector

And leather handbrake and gear lever gaiters

You can get machined Delrin bushes for ÂŁ25.00 posted.
Imho so much nicer than the 3d printed ones.
They come with stainless bolts too :grinning:

Changed the HT Leads for a set of the uprated ones from Autolink to cure occasional hesitancy. Car seems to pull more smoothly now than it ever did since I got it. Will be icing on the cake if I get better mpg, despite the heavy right foot.

Hi
Is the clear wind deflector better?
Where did you buy it from?
Cheers

I have used it at motorway speeds and have had no problem with it. Not sure if it has made a lot of difference but aesthetically it looks better IMHO.

Think it is more aesthetics it certainly hasn’t made things worse.

I got it off ebay, the sellers name is mp3pek.

I couldn’t quite get the side supports to sit right on the roll bar plastics so I used some black silicone sealant and it has made a good job of it.

Thought I’d treat the old girl to a bit of bling - I got this chrome filler cap from a scrappie for £20 which I thought was a good deal given the price of new ones (£85ish). It was made in the USA and is very heavy so hopefully won’t bubble up as quickly as some of them do. It’s mint, not a mark on it apart from some screwdriver damage on one of the allen screws.

Took all of 10 minutes to fit:

(And yes, it opens! :grinning:)

That seller mp3pek on eBay is me. You can buy them from me via eBay but I also have them listed in the parts for sale section on here a little bit cheaper. ÂŁ59.99 + ÂŁ6.99 P&P on eBay, ÂŁ60 with free delivery on here. Same price for Mk3 (soft top and PRHT) and Mk4 (soft top only), both in clear and light grey tinted.

Mk3 version -

Mk4 version -

Drop me a message if you are interested.

Car fully back on the road again after a fair bit of work - making the most of the decent weather up here in NE England this week. Really impressed with the MeisterR ZetaCRDs and full wheel alignment. Wish I had fitted these a while ago - they make the car feel more planted on the road with a lot less body roll and a more positive feel to the steering. Not super low but I never wanted that anyway - still a nice stance though. Currently 34.5cm centre hub to wheel arch all round - damping is currently (from full hard) 24 clicks front/26 rear.

At last I have started my cam belt replacement on my mk1. I got all the parts about a year ago, including water pump, cam and crankshaft seals, thermostats etc, but it was running so well I didnt want to upset things!
Started well, drained oil and water, removed the suspension brace and the aux belts then it was the frustrating bit, couldn’t undo the crank pulley nut! Gave up as didnt want to break anything and have now ordered a crank locking tool. Oh well at least it gives me time to polish the cam cover!

We blew the cobwebs off the NC by taking the long way round in today’s lovely midday sunshine to and from five minutes at the Phlebotomist - no queue.

It was the best part of an hour enjoying the car on almost empty scenic country lanes. The excuse was so I could avoid what used to be ten minutes each way on busy roads now crippled further by HS2 works.
