Memories! Last time I was at Kemble, 1976, the Red Arrows were still there flying Folland Gnats. We had put small 16mm film cameras on and in the Gnat.
John Noakes was in the back seat for an episode of “Go with Noakes”, and before landing he was treated to the sensory delight of a double twinkle roll to finish off some aerobatics.
The director made him hand out the full sick bag before climbing out. Then do it again more soggy. Then again with a blown up empty dry bag. Each repeat because his face was a slightly different colour. In the end they used the first take with his greenest face.
The ‘de-suspension’ of aircraft in the Airspace hangar at Duxford has allowed some new views of the residents as well as opening up the area for the ground based exhibits…
