Flown from Texas to the UK for VE Day events both here and in mainland Europe, the Douglas R4D-6S is residing at Duxford on it’s downtime.
Built in 1944, “Ready-4-Duty” is the U.S. Navy’s version of the DC-3 and C-47 and is operated by the Dallas/Fort Worth Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.

As next year marks the 70th anniversary of my first ever flight in a Silver City Airways DC3/C-47 from Lydd (Kent) to Wick (Caithness) at the age of 3 months :baby: I thought I’d take advantage of a look around it…

Victory in Japan is a much less recognised moment in our history I’m afraid, but no less significant.
This ship is now a floating museum docked in Pearl Harbour, ironically it is only metres from the sunken USS Arizona which was sunk in the attack on Pearl harbour.you could say that for the USA the war started there and ended here!
Well worth a visit.

The harbour at Burghead, Moray, at about 7.30 this morning. Absolutely lovely and the weather is uncharacteristically beautiful. No “5” this time… visiting son and grandchildren and have the dog with us along with car seats etc. It was 25C in Perth yesterday, enroute from Cairnryan to Lossiemouth.
Wonderful countryside.

My back garden! Madeira wall ornaments on the small wall. In Madeira, these are often seen on the corners of the houses roofs!

Who doesn’t love a red lotus or two? I had a red elan back in the day, and googling the reg sees it still turning up at classic car shows around the country, so always look out for it as would love to meet up again one day, although it’s white these days :open_mouth:

And the ultimate Bat-Mobile - Lamborghini Aventador
