What is your favourite beer?

I support my local brewery. They have been around for yonks and do a lethal draft beer called Hicks. Until I gained a tolerance over the years this would hit you before you saw the bottom of a pint glass. They do a bottled version that is just trading on its reputation.

I’ll always try the weird and unusual

Depends on the season and my mood. Last May we stayed in Tideswell in the Peak District and on a lovely long walk came across the Angler’s Rest which served a fantastic pint of Chatsworth Gold, produced on the nearby estate. It was heavenly (halfway along the walk may have had something to do with it though). Not been able to find it since though!

Proper Job, I must have had a bottle of that at some time in the past. Thought I’d try it again a couple of weeks ago, sadly it’s the only beer I’ve had to tip down the drain after just getting half way down the pint🥴

Love this!

Love Punk IPA

thats good stuff!

I’ve never had this other than bottled. You mentioned a pint of it; was it from a barrel? Must have been spoiled whatever the vessel. It’s nothing spectacular ,but it’s not undrinkable. Wouldn’t survive on Tescos shelves as long as it has if that was the case.

Bottle of, off the shelf at Sainsbury’s.
I’ve never had a beer tasting so odd, maybe my taste buds that night.

Or it’s an iffy batch … it does happen. I’ve had it with other beer from supermarkets in the past.

I’d try another bottle, from another store in a month say. Don’t be put off permanently :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

In the interest of science and balance I bought a Proper Job tonight. As it says on the bottle it’s ’powerfully hopped’ I think it can be overdone. IPA is always a hoppy beer and the milder version I had the night before (Hobgoblin session IPA) was more pleasant. So, on balance, I think it’s a niche beer for those that like to test the limits. If you like eating Scotch Bonnet or spreading Marmite on bread without the butter showing through? Proper Job is a beer to explore….

Marmite, now you’re talking :+1:

It’s a bit of a cliff edge for me. The difference between nice and nasty is tiny. Anyone that spreads it on like peanut butter must have rubbish taste buds😀
