Thanks to Stefan Tkaczyk from the North Thames group for organising a splended lunch at the Six Bells, Boreham Wood …
Nice to meet you there and the chat we had. I didn’t expect the waitress to get us all in the picture.
Likewise Chris, lovely to meet you Georgie and indeed everyone else.
On the way home I was wondering what it might take to get some of us on stage at any of the MX-5 rallies an owners club open mike could be a bit of a hoot, what do you think Would certainly be a great excuse for me to pick up my Morris again
Will look for a lunch venue at the Watford end of the region next week maybe far an April or May meeting.
Well it sounds like a good idea, I’ll cheer you on not sure about playing though, I would be scared s******s
Performing is easy, feel the fear and do it anyway
Local drive to Theydon Bois for coffee and cake as it’s my wife’s birthday. Any excuse to go for a spin…
Just driven back from Alness (near Inverness) to home in South Cumbria via Fort Augustus and Glencoe etc. Had a weekend with my brother in-law to celebrate his 70th birthday. We were following a lorry with a trailer that wandered into the edge of the road and throw up a number of rocks and pebbles. There was an almighty bang and the car got a couple of nasty chips in the windscreen. I will get these dealt with via my insurance. I would rather this happen then the the rocks land on, and dent the bonnet though.
To Ranmore, just outside Dorking this morning at the crack of dawn, to replicate a photo I’d taken of my S2000 back in 2014.
Major fail in getting the positioning right (should have looked at the 2014 photo before setting off), but you get the idea.
Followed that with a blast round the country lanes before the cyclists were out in force. What a way to start the weekend
Over to Inveraray today from Glasgow. Only had to bring the roof back up for the same cloud on the way there and back.
Two very nice examples
Just 15 minutes up the road from where I live to Woodland Fell. Top down of course. View west to the Duddon estuary and views north to the western Lake District fells. Beautiful clear blue skies.
Does “Round in a rather tight circle” count for this thread?
That’s where I hoped I was going.
It seems that as soon as I started to steer off the roundabout, the car decided to continue around but rotating twice as fast.
This is the direction that I ended up.
I am really glad to say that it only took 10 seconds for me to pull myself together and continue.
So, this is a roundabout that I had taken swiftly a number of times before. This time? Well the road was a bit damp but also the traction control was off due a problem starting at the beginning of that journey. Skid pan training, anyone?
Even with the DSC off I’d be worried it decided to spin you round. Check the road surface (if you can) and your tyres a combination of trouble maybe?
It was quite hard acceleration, a typical oily urban round about. Tyres are 3year old Michelin PS4 with about 15000 miles. I underestimated the wet.
Or underestimated the centrifugal force generated by increasing forward speed when still effectively travelling in a circle.
And the grip left on your tyres
Probably all three
“the centrifugal force generated by increasing forward speed when still effectively travelling in a circle.”
That’s the bit that creates the buzz!
I agree the combination of the three was my undoing!
