Where have you been in your MX-5 today?

Our destination today was…

Car remains in the garage, we stay local and go to Lidl and Sainsbury’s instead in the daily driver.

That’s the Cat & Fiddle near Buxton above.

Absolutely plastered in salt after driving home. Posted close ups as wide shots don’t do justice just how white it is!

Just watched your video, absolutely brilliant really brought a smile to my face. Better than watching top gear.

I live in London and to see parts of the country that haven’t got speed cameras, 20mph limits, CCTV, road humps, cyclist lanes, congestion charge, ULEZ charge, parking restrictions, etc etc, gives me a bit of faith back in driving.
Thanks for posting

I was speaking to someone in London a few weeks back who said he had spent ages registering for everything and had paid up all his fees and stuff, only to find his car stuck up a blocked off street because a camera crew were shooting for some film or TV programme.

haha thanks for giving it a watch  I feel your pain being down there! It’s getting just as bad up here in Glasgow which is introducing something similar in the city this year :frowning: I’m just glad that after a 20/30 min drive away from all that there is still some fun to be had. The question will be for how long though, I have sene some average speed loops been put in on what used to be some excellent rural roads.

My 91 Eunos NA has just had a treat. It’s been to Beachy Head, on the South Coast and back, not a vast distance as I live not far from it, but a memorable drive.

A fantastic bit of MX5 loving road to start with, and a great sausage roll and latte at the Cadence Cafe.

But the real reason to remember this one is because it’s just had its first MOT in 2.5 years. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit she’s been SORN’d in my garage for that time. I’ve looked at her quite regularly, just to make sure she’s still there and in one piece, but been feeling awful that I haven’t done the right thing by her and given her a good thrashing. That has now been done!

Just before the MOT, I did the few checks that I’m able to (not being the least bit mechanically minded), which amounted to checking the tyre pressure and tread, turning all lights on and off, including the hazards (just to make it more interesting) and even went as far as tooting the horn (3 times!!). I was driving down to the garage with fingers and toes crossed, in the 15 years I’ve been her custodian, she’s cost me the grand total of a rear spring for MOT’s… it’s time I spent some money and love on her and put some miles (km’s) behind that speedo

Mazda use ‘gram technology’ to cut down on excess vehicle weight in every possible area. The combination of multiple minute weight savings increases efficiency and performance.

Like you I tend to counteract all that. Not driving anywhere unless there’s a meal or at least a sticky bun waiting for me when I get there.

Always a treat or two to be had on our journeys, it’s a must.
Must admit we did share the cake later on as Mrs A has to go easy on such stuff, especially anything with cream.

We are so good to our wives aren’t we? Always offering to finish any left over cake that they can’t manage.

yesterday I was tasked with jet washing the drive and patio, it was a lovely sunny and warm day so ideal. SWMBO had gone out to lunch with her buddies and by 12.30 I really fancied a bag of chips for lunch. New chippy opened in the next village so popped in the Mazda and drove there. Closed.

Oh well, there’s another in the next village along, closed.

I know there’s a good one in the village in the opposite direction, closed

There must be one in the ‘council estate’ 10 minutes the other side of the second village, now it’s a kibab shop.

17 miles and 35 minutes later I found a nice chippy close to the town centre which was open and served very nice chips. Bought a portion and head home for chips on the now clean patio

Just got settled down with fork in hand and the rain started!

Chips in the shed!

We have to take them out to eat because they make such a bleedin’ mess eating in the car. Crumbs everywhere, spilt coffee, sweet papers …

Eating in the car? I do not understand this term.
