Where have you been in your MX-5 today?

Went to Silverdale this afternoon for a walk along the coast and a picnic. Excuse was that I needed to charge the battery up. Roof down on the way, but had to put the roof up (for the wife’s benefit) on the way back, as it started to rain quite heavily. There is quite a long section limited to 20mph and I didn’t have any waterproof trousers with me :grimacing:

Went to the Bike Show at the NEC. Lots of classic style machinery including an all new bike from BSA. Went looking for kit for the final part of my round the world motorcycle trip which starts in Baku in June.

And while I was there a funny sounding NA parked up…

Apparently, these BSA’s are pre-production models. I just hope they shrink the stupidly oversized radiators.

…and the exhaust pipe, hideous!

Melksham parkrun then Sainsburys’ for the weekly shop.

Under bonnet shot of the Rocketeer is just pure petrol head porn.

Hailsham to Firle for a pub meet. Two NA’s two ND’s. Nice run back smelling the fumes from the two in front of me one boosted NA (Roy from the restorer) and a highly tuned ND1 recaro. I love driving in convoy but I go at the back as I’m stock 1.5. Top down in the dark is great.

It’s my experience the farther North you go (or the farther from London) the better the standard of lane discipline. The M25 is terrible for cars sitting in 2 and 3 in the dead of night for many miles, and at almost any time of day you repeatedly find everyone pushed out into lane 4 because some cockwomble is in 2 or 3 not doing any overtaking.

Then there’s the nirvana that is Scotland, where fellow motorists will actually slow and pull to one side on ordinary (and single track) roads to allow faster traffic to pass, instead of holding up 10 vehicles for miles doing 15 mph below the speed limit for miles (the latter being de rigueur for the Peak District)… if your car is holding a service bus up, you have serious issues!

Been out on the South Downs, nice to be able to take the car for a more enjoyable drive even if it was to photograph where my mate came off his bike at the weekend.
The car is now dirty so needs a wash.

I think it looks ever so slightly scary. It’s the wide staring eyes I think.

Now that you mention it does look a little bit more halloween than christmas :joy:Something to keep in mind for next year.

Melton Mowbray today, market day.

Love a free car park if a little industrial, a photo opportunity.
