Who’s Hiding their Light under a Bushel?

Given the response to the recent photography thread, it’s clear we have some truly wonderful photographers in the forum, so I’m just wondering what other hidden talents folk have, if they’d like to share? Any new skills you’ve picked up during the pandemic? Woodworkers? Fish-keepers? Students? Artists? Musicians? Sculptors? Embroiderers? Friends? Romans?? Country(wo)men??? Send us yer wares! (Please)

Started a YouTube channel during the pandemic like many others and now regret it now that things are getting closer to “normal” :joy::joy: Also learned that when a fox runs out in front of your car you are going to have a bad time. I also learned that I don’t like my freedom to go for a drive being taken away.

I hid my light under said bushel and now, I can’t for the life of me, remember where that is?

Someone very wise once said “it is only by glimpsing the heart of darkness that we can begin to perceive the light”:grin:

Wow! That’s quite something! How the heck d’you work up the confidence to do that?

By the type of questions I’m frequently asked I must be either a sanitary worker -
“Are you taking the pizz pal?”
or a stand-up comic -
“Are you some sort of feckin’ comedian?”

Lockdown didn’t change things for me as I have been a homeworker for quite some time due to disability. What I have found is over the years I’ve become an expert box opener. They frequently arrive at the front door filled, I empty them, rip them up, and leave them in a pile for the misses to deal with. They tend to have much more interesting contents on the days my wife is at work, weird that
The phrase “oh flippin’ eck not more cardboard” is often heard wafting up the stairs…

Other than that it’s just the photography for me these days, it requires little effort!

Oh, I forgot, in my healthier days I did a bit of bee keeping, that was really interesting and something a bit different

Barrie (Bettabuilda) has so many lights under his bushel that if he lifted it while they were all on it would illuminate the whole Leeds area, maybe more!
The same can be said of Paul (Roadie) and his part of Lincolnshire!
Very talented guys, the pair of them.

:rofl: there ya go gal! I’m sure my mind plays tricks on me! I really struggle with the simplest of things? We have two dogs :dog2:

One has a red harness, one has a blue harness. Each time, when taking them out, I forget which wears which? I’m sure the dogs don’t care, but it’s difficult for me to remember the order? Not kidding here

One of the best Ski Instructors I was ever privileged to learn from was a 75 year old Swiss bee-keeper in Verbier. He had two younger brothers, not bee keepers, both by then ex instructors because the crippling arthritis knotting up their hands prevented them from being effective.

However, Freddy used to flex his supple fingers (no gloves in -5C !!) and say “Zero arthritis, sixty-five years of little stings from my friends keep me healthy.”

They are so cute. They must have their own personalities though? Tag a name to the character?

Back when we had two very different big dogs, If you called either one by name, both would appear expecting something interesting to happen and not want to be left out.

“Treats” were very rare (fattening), but a relief from boredom was in itself a treat.

My little sister was the main dog whisperer, and she could teach the old dog new tricks long after my mother had given him up as a lost cause driven only by his stomach.

The young one was always game for a laugh, and used to enjoy jokes on him, or helping with jokes or pranks on the old dog, or my sister.
