Whenever I see another '5 I always give a friendly wave. About 90% of the time I get ignored, am I doing something wrong? Is there some masonic-style wave I should be doing?
I was thinking of perhaps veering into the oncoming mx5’s path whilst flashing my lights and honking the horn, or is that a bit extreme [:P]
I for on always wave - however, you may want to take a point into thinking. A lot of Mk3 owners will not recognise either a Mk1 or a Mk2 as being the same car as they have. A lot of owners don’t get the wave thing at all. A good few owners aren’t as enthusiastic about the car as most folks on here.
I am all for the waves - there a are a lot of owners out there that don’t even know we exist.
No one has even waved to me yet - so I’m enclined to agree with you, I always think I should wave but then by the time I go to they’ve already passed me…
well i havent yet come across you in the town, but i always raise a wave regardless. Look out for me in the “unsocial” copper red mk3 and very occasionally the inconspicuous Mk1 Lemans.
Usually spotted around the tilehurst and caversham parts of town.
OR
come along on the 18th to the Brighton run (see west london section) and meet us all and wave away to your hearts content!
I did get a wave from a fellow Mark 1 owner a while ago. But i gave them a bemused response as i thought i was still in my Lupo! still time yet my son…still time:)
Well I dont beleive you said that, I for one will wave to all the 5ers who take the time to acknowledge me half the time they are either in a daze of to busy rushing by
I’ve only had about four people wave at me since I bought my 5 in October, the last on Christmas Eve from a mark 2 owner. Never been waved at by a mark 3 owner!
I do try to wave, even if it is just a subtle hand off the steering wheel, but am largely ignored - still, it makes me happier when people do wave back I suppose!
