Why does no-one wave? Are all 5ers miserable at the mo?!

hello.  This isn’t a serious answer but I think in some ways we are all a bit pre-occupied and the lack of a wave reflects just how society is at the moment. Most of us drive around in our little bubbles in complete anonimity (and seclusion) and when someone you don’t know waves at you - it’s like an invasion of privacy. Some just don’t want to go there. It’s like - if I wave back then next time the guy might actually stop sometime and try and speak to me!!  Next thing he’ll be coming round all the time and drinking my beer and flirting with the wife!

There’s a guy pulls into Tesco’s forecourt in a red NA . His J-reg number plate is literally one digit away from mine. The two cars identical, except he’s put some cheap 14" alloys on it and a style bar, he’s still got his mudflaps and his is an auto!!   His very pretty Thai wife is grinning ear to ear and noticed me as soon as I pulled in. He makes a big show of ignoring the whole thing and I felt that I had to say something - so I pulled him up after we’d paid for our petrol and attempted to engage him in conversation - beginning with the fact that his no. plate is one away from mine. Well the guy was aloof and just so obviously not into talking that I actually felt a bit annoyed to be honest. I still see the car about and have waved a couple of times to no response. If his bird is in the car then she waves and he doesn’t!! Work that one out. I wish I’d have spoken to her instead!!

Lastly - there’s a guy down my street that wears the same shoes as me and he’s never waved back. The guy on the bus with the same shirt just stares out the window, and I’ve given up on the jacket guy.

There is a guy who I see every morning that never fails to wave! Our paths cross at the same place and we wave at the same time. Some times we smile at each other. I have no idea whether this guy has a Mazda (I don’t think that he’s good looking enough to own one!), I only ever see him in my bathroom when I’m having a shave![:D]

I always wave when driving my wifes 5 have found that the ladies are better at waving back, do get some funny looks when waving/flashing lights at 5’s when driving my van (the ladies still tend to wave back although they somtimes look a bit puzzled) My wife say’s im a sad git and should stop waving at strange ladies in sports cars, especialy when she’s in the car and eaven more so when she’s driving.

I wish some handsome man would wave at me!  [:D]

I’ll wave at you![6]

I don’t think he’d be waving at you because you were in an MX-5Wink

Cheers

Ooohh (cluthes pearls and drives in a ditch!)

Someone finally waved at me!!  A Mk 1!

If our Membership stickers were fluorescent, perhaps more would be able to identify one another. Sometimes while we are maintaining our rigid adherence to appropriate speed limits,  while acting in accordance in current Health and Safety legislation, as well as proceeding in a manner condusive with extended tyre wear and of course travelling in conformity with all the relevant Traffic Acts, it can be a bit quick. I always wave, without of course taking my hand off the steering wheel. I am still trying to think of something else that could be waved.

I waved at two Mk2s and a Mk3 this morning… nothing lol

Jay, my girlfriend has a hat with a large bobble on the top of it which is /always/ waving when we drive with the lid down. Maybe that would be a worthwhile investment!

Brilliant. Sadly, I have some minor problems. My wife won’t let me have a bobble hat— and needless to say----.

Your time will come though, you have no absolute right to be happy, you will just have to get married like the rest of us

Heh. Not if she gets her way.  :-p

We’re quite happy just living in sin, thank you.

Sorry to the 5ers near Hinxton/Duxford this morning (was that a lemans paint job?), I do normally wave back but was trying to  immitate Keith Moon at the time, and i don’t do multi tasking.
Had my blue mk3 nearly a whole week now and LOVING it,chavmobiles beware!

Well if you can’t beat 'em join em…

Out in Jan’s this morning and and the back road out of Guisborough I got a reciprocal flash and a wave from a grey Mk 3, though I think really we were mutually celebrating the clear superiority of the latest incarnation of this great little car…

Hat and coat got and I’m gone…

On my drive home last night I had a 100% success rate !! woohoo !!

It’s about 8 miles from work to home and saw 6 MX5’s and everyone waved. [Y]

I have a regular ‘waver’ (in a red mk3), every morning on the A5, south of Milton Keynes. I did wave at a grey mk3 the other day and got a very strange (puzzled?) look in return!

I always flash MX-5 drivers.

The difficult part is getting your trousers off in time.

[:D] [:D] [:D]

I always get a wave (and I wave back) from a girl in a Mitsubishi GTO Mivec (might be wrong name) - she used to have a mauve Eunos with tan interior (can’t recall that model either!).
