winking popups

Has anyone rewired there popups to make them able to ‘wink’.I’m sure I’ve seen the wiring diagram or instructions on how to get them to do this but can’t remember where , maybe Youtube? Personaly I think it looks class so does anyone know how to do the rewiring or are there any downloads on how to do this?Wink

I think that this might be what you’re looking for?

Edit: Totally beaten to the punch there while on the reply screen! :stuck_out_tongue:

thats the one thanks guysBig Smile

I thinks its a pro job though, im not much of an auto electrician, lol.

I’m planning on doing this mod to mine, I could make up two extra boxes at the same time if you like, then you’d just need to cut the wires and put connectors on and hook it all up?

That would be great if you could but where would I go from there after the boxes are made up. Like I said I’m not electrically minded to be honest,I mean what tools would I need for a start or would a competent auto electrician be able to finish the work off with your boxes provided. I guess it would be helpfull if I printed off the instructions you tagged onto your first reply.

I do need to ask the question…why on earth do you want to do this?

Because it’s cute… why else? Embarassed

Good answer mate

Hitting head on wall

It will look like a lift motor is broken or on the way out, i have a box of broken ones that you can fit that will wink away without added a load of wiring.

Haha, but then it wouldn’t be winking on command

Wayne as you so often say it’s down to the individual’s choice. I wouldn’t again fit Lo Pro lights, I wouldn’t fit an offset number plate, I wouldn’t adorn my car with more bling thatn Del Boy…but for those who want to, I say go for it, it’s your car . Paint it pink with lambskin seats and 21 inch wheels with spinners. Do I care…nooooooooo

And just like you …it’s an opinion.Rolling eyes

If anybody would like to do this but are put off by a) the war and peace instructions, b) the soldering, and c) butchering your wiring…just to end up with a not-so-brill effect, then watch this space for a plug and play solution…‘proper’ winking, no extra switches, no butchering your wiring and no need to be an electronics engineer. Smile

Go for it Jon, if anyone can make this a easy add in,and for easy removal , you can.Thumbs up Zip It!

Will be a simple case of unplug one thing, plug another thing in, then cut one wire and connect the ends to the mod then done. 20 mins, no extra relays, no dozens of wires to cut and splice, no switch to mount, no soldering. Do a wink with a ‘double pull’ of the stalk, single pull does a flash-to-pass, otherwise popups will work as normal.

 Wow…now that would be something I would tackle if you can pull it off…god luck, my eyes will be peeled{#emotions_dlg.indif}

Oh and before I send a new post, I’ve read that there is a plug I can remove from a black box under the bonnet that will stop the 3 second delay of the popups droppimg when flashing fullbeam. Well I thought I’d found the plug, I think it was labeled HD22 or something but when unplugged it made no difference, have any of you guys done this or know for sure if it can be done and which plug needs removed, cheers.
