Horrible night and so log burner is alight.
Less than 10% moisture oak, which I have had stored for 18 months.

I really miss a proper fire, my new house has only got a gas fire ![]()
As the neighbourhood smell someone elseâs miniging heating
There are a few of those by me. Hideous things.
I dream that one day Iâll turn on the news to be greeted with a main headline that âlogâ burners are for a future ban!
I love the smell of the chimney when I go out of the houseđ
Fair enough. I know there are people that like them. They are a big bode of contention by me. Neighbour rightly said âwhy must I smell the heating of a house 10 doors away?â The eco warriors havenât got onto them yet. Iâve read even burning the right stuff (which still stinks the street out) is equivalent to shed loads of idling HGVs or something. About 5 have popped up in the immediate neighbourhood over the last few years. Air seems rank in the winter now. Sitting in the living room you shouldnât be able to know someone down the road got their heating on. When someone was having one instlled a couple of years ago, a small group of neighbours were booing ![]()

I dislike that âwarriorâ term, but thereâs certainly enough information out there about the issue, e.g.
Well Iâm very lucky in that I donât have neighbours
. It really depends on what you are burning aswell. You certainly shouldnât be smelling someone elseâs fire in your home. I only burn well seasoned logs which donât actually smell that much even in my own lounge.
I more dislike the term eco.
Yes, what your burning is often used. One of the âlogâ burning neighbours, in fairness got an out house thing and keeps mega proper seasoned wood. Heâs âthe kindâ if you know what I mean. His burner stinks too.
I remember once last year, one of the âlogâ burners was in full bore, and a few of use were walking the dogs in the night, with the smoke cascading us. I remember saying âin this ban everything world, how the heck is that still allowedâ. Our eyes were hurting/burning being in the smoke. Itâs also pretty unenforceable too. Even if someone isnât burning the ârightâ stuff, as if a council are going to do a ram raid job. More a case of you get more wound up with red tape.
Has he got a log burner? ![]()

Shed envy"!!
How has a post about enjoying an open fire in winter been hijacked into some kind of crusade about log burners? Certain members seem to love taking posts and throwing a negative spin on them based on personal gripes.
