Worst thing about the nd

I’ve had the clutch judder a couple of times in wet cold weather. I think it was some combination of incorrect footwear and/or incompetent footwork!

I only get cluch judder on my wife’s Citroen C3, never on the ND

Clutch judder was a thing on the NBFL if I remember correctly.

I have had two nd now, neither had clutch judder.

Simon

I struggled with smooth getaways when I first got my ND. I don’t know whether the clutch ‘wore in’, or I just got used to it. Either way, no issues with it now.

I get mild clutch judder on my 2013 Mazda6 Sport which has the 162bhp 2.0L Sky-activ engine. It only does it pulling away for the first time and then goes away. If you google Mazda and clutch judder there’s quite a bit out there. A lot of it points to condensation on the clutch plate which disappears as the engine warms up. Quite feasible for me as I use it infrequently. I’m used to it and it doesn’t bother me at all.

Hmm, that slight clutch judder might not be uncommon.

For us it’s more of a snatch or grab than judder.

I’ve had conversations with my dealer a few times over the years about our 2016 Mazda3 Skyactive which lives outside. The problem is that it only does it when cold, and only for first few clutch operations after a windy damp chilly night. Five minutes or so of driving and it goes away. So the dealer never sees or feels it!

Having followed this thread, I took more notice of it again yesterday when I drove it to meet some friends (weather was too horrible for a freshly cleaned 25AE). Over the years I’ve thought it was just me not adjusting to it after mostly driving the NC. So a few minutes ago I asked its main driver, SWMBO, and she said “Oh, it always does that in the winter.”

It’s a mild annoyance, but not a disaster, so we’ve lived with it.

I have no ideas for anything we might do to cure it.

Weirdly this morning, it was cold, damp (as usual in wales) and no judder haha… seems very intermittent in my case.

Again as above I just crack on with it, in most cases by the time I reach the end of my street its gone…

2cc larger!

Probably enough to make the man-maths work if you really want one…I mean, that’s nearly half a teaspoon.

You get an extra 1.0 L more into the Dave fab tank so there description says

They need to do it in an XL size, just too small and cramped for me unfortunately :pensive:

Wonder why Mazda didn’t make it bigger then if it is specific to the ND MX-5. The only reason might be that they also use it on another of their models?

OK, here goes:

  1. A little bit more headroom would be nice, but this is easily resolved. I usually drive roof down anyway so headroom is pretty much unlimited :slightly_smiling_face:

  2. Cup holders are rubbish, my water bottles always fly out under hard braking.

  3. That’s it apart from my instrument cluster which has gone on the blink

Would be interested to hear how you get that resolved, it seems to be happening occasionally.

A clock. It’s the small things, right?

Passenger contorting to change the cd.

The time is displayed in the top right corner of the screen!

Unless you use TomTom or such over android auto. I know it’s a prerogative of theirs to put the time on their app, but if there was a clock it wouldn’t be an issue. Like I said, a small thing
