2024 track days

Yes. How did you know? :astonished:

Your username lol.

Should have put a ā€˜/s’ on my last post. First ever trackday but I’ve driven around knockhill a few times in their civic type r. I am a bit worried about sliding about in the stock seat and having old suspension bushings but it should be fine. It is a novice day after all.

I went around Donington in a 29-y-o stock Eunos that had no upgrades. Apart from struggling up the inclines it was fine.

You will be fine. I’ve been a few times with a fully stock car on 25 year old stock suspension and bushings. I’m hoping it’s a little wet personally.

Just make sure your brake pads are good. Nothing worse than ruining the day when you find your pads are worn out in the first hour.

I am doing a full cooling system refresh, timing belt, disks and yellow stuff pads to go on this weekend.

Probably more fun when it’s raining. I’ve only ever been when it’s wet so hoping it’s properly dry.

@FRyan and TheLoraxxZeus, Crail was Ā£35 for the full day, open pit, not sure why people are talking about 20 minutes? It’s no frills but dirt cheap.

I think it was an assumption when you compare it to other tracks.

not sure if its been mentioned already but if theres anyone / a group of people that would like to arrange a track day for May / June within an hour / hour and half from Bucks i would be game. There is Bedford Autodrome or Mallory park available - well priced for the day also (sub £200) - If people are keen i could set up a separate thread with the two options in?

This is clearly too late but we’re off to Forrestburn (slap between glashow and edinburgh) on sunday for their last of the year. First outing for the 2.5 litre swap, hope i don’t explode it!

Forrestburn are disastrous at the information side, even the track’s practically secret so how it works is… You have to sign up for membership which is Ā£20 a year (this is the worst time of year as it’s calendar years so you won’t get a lot for your money, but, hey, it’s still cheap for motorsport). The trackday is Ā£35. The only requirements are a basically safe car, a helmet, and long sleeves. Gates at 9.30, briefing at 10.45 then straight out for a sighting lap, then they run nonstop til 3.

It’s a hillclimb track so you don;'t do ā€œlapsā€, instead it’s a single sprint, then you drive back and queue and go again. So it’s a wee bit slow in the morning but once people have started taking breaks or having problems or just getting tired we usually were only waiting a couple of minutes by the end, sometimes not at all. And the great thing is you can take a break without missing a session or whatever.

So it’s low stress, on the driver and the car- no risk of getting overloaded, no other idiots on track to worry about, brakes and tyres don’t get overheated like a big track can do. So even the maintenance costs are low. Eh, as long as you don’t crash of course!

And it’s a wee gem of a track. Almost never straight, tons of gradient change, a range of corners, just MX5 happy hunting ground.

Did Cadwell Park on Wednesday all be it in my other car a 2013 Fiesta ST.

Silverstone GP and Oulton booked for November in mine. Anyone else?

Which Oulton Park day?
I’ve just got a Curborough sprint day in the diary as I’ve only got 2mm brake pad on the n/s rear inner.
Still itching for a track day before the end of the year though.

Nov 16th with msv mate

Just booked Oulton for the 22nd of November with Mazda on Track.
Apparently numbers for the day are low atm so nice clear laps could be on the cards :ok_hand:
