2.0 ND3 - Out of a tank, travelling a distance of 400 miles, I got 40.1mpg . Calculated by brim to brim. I see mpg figures of 45mpg A & B roads and around 53-57mpg on motorways especially in 50mph zones. Drops to 38-40 around town or less with heavy traffic. I don’t hang about and am always surprised at the mpg even when I have been driving “spiritedly”
Expect this to get get better as the engine does more miles, currently on 1950 miles since new. Not bothered about mpg though, just surprising how fuel efficient it is compared to previous cars when given the “beans”
I’m at 46.5 MPG overall at the moment, brim-to-brim calcs with my 2015 ND1 1.5.

Fuelly is an excellent tool to keep track
That’s a mixture of considered, but enthusiastic use. I don’t sit there watching the trip computer and changing up early
Mine is a CleaR Motorsport mapped 1.5, always using super-unleaded. The E5 also helps economy on standard examples, both NC2 and ND1 in my reasonably extensive experience. My calcs show it’s 10-15% more economical with better fuel. Some, of course, will contest that. As ever, individual use will vary…
‘Personal Best’ on a run has been 56MPG, 2hr motorway run between 60-70mph. It’s usually 50 MPG on a more typical motorway run, with cruise set at a GPS 70mph.

I think you guys understand the mpg numbers wrong.
Lower is better (more fun)

Lower numbers only happen if you waste petrol by applying brakes…

Well actually, if you skillfuly waste petrol while applying brakes it’s called tail braking…

Just bought a 2012 NC 2 litre. Despite driving like a vicar, can’t make 30mpg. Hmmm…
Have you reset the MPG counter on the dash to zero?
My NC was the same until I reset it and then it sorted itself out.
Worth a try if you’ve not already done it.
I actually benefit slightly from braking…if I have to. It’s part of the Hybrid Re-gen thing which in turn gives me the energy back next time I need to accelerate with brio in conjunction with the soft turbo. All clever stuff but beyond my grasp but this little Swift has huge gobs of torque it really ought not to! It would be a fantastic engine in a 5. Tiny , light alloy, 2 litre grunt. Also, stuff like Super 7s etc would love it. But the Japan built engines apparently are hugely expensive…something of 6/7k! Got average of 53 mpg yesterday keeping up with my bestie’s beautifully rebuilt 1.9 cc Bimmer Z over the Dukes Pass… Sorry for butting in…just a wee story.

Highest indicated on a long run 51mpg, average over 7000 miles 35.4 and best over a single tank 44.4.
I’ve tried BP Ultimate 97, Tesco Momentum 99 and Shell V Power but the best results for MPG are with ASDA regular.

Interesting about your findings using Asda 95
It’s my closest station and it surprised me when I looked back at my readings. I try and alternate between premium and regular every 2 or 3 fill ups but it really depends on where I am at the time.
On the flip side, 29.5 mpg is my worst number and that was using ASDA fuel but it did take me 73 days between refills so lots of very short trips.
The spring rally on Sunday should get my average up.
The recent Scotland NC500 trip, At times, when the current wife was behind the wheel, I would look through the mpg and we seemed to be near on 50 mpg. We also filled up to the brim on the last day to head back to Newbury from Glenrothes and even though we got stuck on the M42 for over 1.5hrs , I am sure we could have made it home, but we did put £30 in at Warwick services on the M40 and at home we had 1/2 tank left. the wife wasnt hanging about at times. Cant type what LOL, but its been a big surprise on its mpg, fully loaded to the brim with luggage and humans.
ND1 BBR 190 kit. Never missed a beat.

? Trail braking is just that , braking , usually to the apex , when power can be reapplied.
Just back from the spring rally with a quick detour over to York, 48mpg.
