Iso Harness for 20 pin connector (Panasonic NVA-SD8110) - help please!

Hi,

I decided to replace my Sat Nav touch screen head unit with a more modern Android Auto unit. My car is a 2013 MX5 Sport Graphite. I managed to strip everything out OK having followed a couple of vids on-line. I thought it would be a case of a simple iso harness connection however the existing Mazda connection is a much smaller white 20 pin affair.

Has anyone changed out their sat nav head unit and where can I get an adaptor to suit? I have attached a couple of photos. Hope you can help. Thanks Andy

Hiya, have a look here, I’ve used these guys before and found everything I need.

Not sure with the sat nav unit but you may need the steering wheel control lead/ module too?

Hi, thanks for this. Unfortunately I don’t think any of these are correct? The connector is a mini connection. Thanks all the same.

Yeah, I have ordered one of those that allows the steering controls to work. Again unfortunately the final power connection is a larger size than that hard wired in the car?

This one is the standard fit for aftermarket head units, it’s the one I’ve used

Hi, yes that is the one I purchased. Unfortunately the large red block is too big and does not connect with the white smaller block in my photo? Any other car I worked on, these are quite straight forward. It appears that the Panasonic Unit NVA-SD8110 has a different connection? Odd. Hopefully someone with a Sport Graphite or 2013/14 car has come across this. Thanks for your help MickAP

Sorry I couldn’t be of help here  I had a look around and all the leads I found were Bose/non Bose standard units. Nothing listed for yours (as I’m sure you knew anyway) good luck and maybe someone has done this, will look in here and post a solution :+1:

Thanks Barrie. Appreciate you looking into this. I guess an auto electrician might just cut the connectors and splice the wires together? Once fitted it will be staying anyway. Cheers

Follow the harness along into the dash, you should find the original factory connector probably taped over with foam.

That would have been my next suggestion to have something made up? Roadster Robbie has pretty much hit the nail on the head though, a Mazda ‘adapter’ from the main loom makes sense :+1:

You are an absolute legend! Yes that was it. Hidden in foam and pushed back into the dashboard. Thanks so much!

All sorted, thanks. Roadster Robbie was correct. Cheers

I vaguely remember another member saying they’d replaced the factory nav unit on the NC, where that post is?? Thanks we have Robbie :+1:

Sorry for the late reply, only just researching this for myself.

Okay, no point in creating a new thread.
Mine is a 2013 Sport Tech.
I have all mine out and disconnected the original Sanyo harness EXCEPT for a single GREEN and BROWN wire which is attached to the harness.
I can see that the BROWN goes to the handbrake switch, so can splice that one in with the new loom.
Now the GREEN one.
It goes around the back of the Glove box and down towards the fuse box and then…
So guys any idea what this one is for??
I think that it “might” be for the reverse light link system?
Now I know a few have replaced the NVA-SD8110, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
(Great fun getting that 10mm bolt out!).

Hope you get it sorted - it appears the wiring is significantly different with the Sanyo units than it was with my Bose.

To spur you on a couple of better pics in daylight than those dark pics earlier in the week.

To confirm, you what to know where the green wire from the original “factory installed” unit goes?
