My 04 SVT - Rolling repairs & rustoration

Grabbed a few more hours yesterday, managed to get the inner arch all welded in place and the outer arch fitted. RE applied to everything, with CIO inside the arches (glass reinforced paint, so tough) just the stone guard to go, once i have cleaned it all up and checked for corrosion under the original underseal

More progress, rear sub frame swap completed. and the correct ratio LSD installed (old one was one open unit)…although it may have to take a back seat as my son’s RCZ requires attention after dropping compression on one cylinder. On the plus side, the wheels are due back any day from the powder coaters

Interesting colour choice for the refreshed components.
Is that just primer or are you sticking with that colour?

The black and the gold are Buzzweld chassis in one paint, the red coloured stuff is Buzzweld rust encapsulator primer. Promatic stone guard on the underside of the bodywork.
I went with black and gold underneath to compliment the body work colour (Radiant Ebony)

A unique finish. Well done.

Only a small update as i am still waiting for the wheels (waiting for the powder coat to arrive from the 'states  ). Rear brakes all connected and bled and handbrake cables reattached yesterday, only the handbrake caliper to adjust when i get the wheels back. Hoping to get onto the prep work for the painting soon as the weather looks like it could hold for long enough to get it done and some protective paint applied.
FIngers crossed it can go in for paint in the next week or so - i can finally get back to driving it for a bit before starting on the front end suspension components (new balljoints, track rod ends, calipers, brake lines, sliders and discs all to fit as well.

Another reason for the colour scheme on the underside - a slight nod to the Lotus JPS F1 livery (as the MX5 was touted as a modern day Lotus Elan when it was launched)

Finally picking the wheels up tomorrow (Thursday). Poor guy doing them has been flat out, plus he had to wait for the powder to arrive from the USA (turned up late Friday). Probably not to everyones taste, but i love them

Sparkly :star_struck:

Didn’t realise that i hadn’t done an update since August, lol.

Anyway, combinations of work, weather and sorting the RCZ out resulted in the 5 being neglected  however i have now got her inside so i can finally crack on with the filler work ready for paint

Which brand of suspension bush have you fitted?

Flo Flex - I have read the “horror” stories from others who have fitted them, but personally i have never had an issue with them, and i have used them in many different vehicles (from Sierra’s to Land Rovers) over the last 20 years without issues. When they are fitted correctly (as any bush should be) and the fixings are torqued with the weight of the vehicle on them, they work.

So, i have finally managed to start on the prep work - busy with other stuff and full up with the lurgy for the last few weeks so haven’t been able/felt up to doing anything, hoping to have it ready for paint in the New Year.
