One’s my strong Kia Sportage jack but I see your point and would never go under the car in this position!
I’m not a health and safety freak but best to always err on the side of caution. If you jack a car up to remove a wheel take hold of the wheel with two hands at 4 and 8 o’clock. Never place a hand at 12 o’clock. A jack going through a sill is bad but a wrist trapped between a tyre and wheel arch is a whole lot worse.

First time car seen a garage in its life today! No surprises, we like that!
Cambelt and timing belt kit change
Fresh oil
New brakes and discs all round
Fuel and air filter
Air cleaned engine bay.
Fingers cross for the MOT tomorrow to get it registered. Any comments on condition underneath would be appreciated.

I’m very pleasantly surprised at the chassis condition.
If it was a keeper, it should be treated ASAP especially along and into the seams where quite naturally, there is rust…including the inside of the wishbones. If not a keeper, don’t cover it up with stuff as it will look to good to be true…which in this case it’s actually genuinely solid.
I’d buy it tomorrow for “strong money”…but I’ve got 2 already.

The mechanic was saying how smooth the valves were with cam cover off. Apparently shows an unused engine or little wear.

In the words of Charlie Bucket from willy wonka. ‘I’ve got a golden ticket’. Well a passed MOT with no advisories. What a nice birthday present. Always nice to hear experienced mechanics say, ‘this car is like off the factory floor in Japan’.
Off to DVLA to do that last bit now before those square plates can be made!
