What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

I took the hardtop off and went for my first top-down drive of the year. A gentle burble around some country lanes with the sun shining and the birds singing. How to put a smile on your face

Take long?
Why did you need the angle grinder??

Yes, the area being contacted by the pads looks reduced.
Shouldn’t the swept area extend right to the edge??

Yes it should👍

I appear to have solved an annoying knocking/clunking noise from the rear shock absorbers on my NC. The plastic covers had worked themselves loose and were making a clatter when going over the odd imperfection in the road.

The fix was to wrap a couple of rounds of electrical tape and reseat the cap.

Good work. Hope the wet weather doesn’t unravel it!!:+1:

Hopefully not as it is seated under the cap. :crossed_fingers:

My NB has been SORN’d for 6 months now. I put the battery on charge just now. Might MOT it sometime this coming week. Too many vehicles, too little time to deal with them all!

Put the CTEK on in recondition mode, given the car’s had little use of late. Never tried that mode before.

 thanks

Easy to fit, any instructions?

If you can do your headlight bulbs you can do these.
They are very good mind, did mine last year. :+1:

Very easy, hardest part was disconnecting the window switches to do the gear lever gaiter.

The handbrake gaiter just pulls up and if you turn it over you will see a retaining ring with two screws holding it on, the gaiter just clips over lugs on the top ring. The new leather one comes with slits in the leather and it is just a case of reversing the removal.

For the gear lever the gear knob and centre console needs to come off but once this is done fairly straight forward as it is similarly fitted over lugs and the slits are there for you.

Would say make a note of how the old ones come off as I fitted the handbrake one wrong the first time.

Fitted a pair of new hood tensioning wires in my NB as one had snapped (it looked as though it had rusted through) and the other was on the way out. Fitting the first was a right pain; the second was a lot quicker.

After installing a new head unit last week (Pioneer SPH-10BT) to my 1991 mk1 so I can listen to Deezer, this evening I fitted new door speakers (In Phase 320w) - sounded great when I tested White Room through them!

White room… Cream ?

If so what better way to test them

Hi PaleRider, I’ve not used In Phase before but from what I heard sat in my garage last night I’m very impressed. Yes it was Cream, now to do a sound test on the road… playlist suggestions welcome!
