What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

I was playing both of those tracks out and about on Monday plus…

Mrs A loves them too but thinks I should change them up a little.:yum:

I’m using in-phase 1" tweeters in door cards and 5" mid bass behind rear seats in my NC with great results. In conjunction with 6x9" JBL door speakers / pioneer head unit.

Playlist ?
Fake plastic trees… Radiohead
Vessel in vain… Smog
Vortex…Rex The Dog

Three completely different tracks all gauranteed to test your speakers as well as your head unit.

I’ve saved those to my playlist for tomorrow’s drive to work :red_car::dash::sunglasses:

Decided to do a brake refurb before the car goes back on the road. So, calipers and mounts de-burred and smoothed, etch coat, high build primer, high temp silver finishing off with hi temp clear lacquer. New Mtec slot/dimpled discs (the pads will take the surface coating off) and Ferodo pads. Roll on Spring !!

Here’s the rear.

How did the stereo workout go ?

Really good, thank you for the recommendations! Vortex reminds me of something from the 90’s, Crystal Method or Pendulum, the clarity in the speakers was pretty good. I liked Vessel in Vain that’s quite different. It was good to hear Fake Plastic Trees again, I’m not really a Radiohead fan but that’s a good one.

Instead of this what3words thing we could have what3songs for the morning commute :notes:

I’m impressed with the speakers considering they are the only ones in there, and the head unit had some good EQ presets…, unless I can find somewhere to shoehorn some 6x9’s :joy:

I dropped the Merlot off to have her long awaited surgery (sills, front wings, rear arches, wheel refurb, full respray). Eagerly awaiting the results in a few weeks time! If you look closely you can just see the tape on the front sill that’s been there a couple of years.

Having fractured my shoulder last Monday, I can’t drive and am reduced to doing things badly with one hand. So today I checked the drain holes were clear, using the drain clearing thing that we have never used! Pleased to report they were clear, with the clearing thing poking out of the lower sill and no water coming out!

Suggestions for other one-handed maintenance projects welcome!

PS - can you use the lower sill rain vent to spray in rust proofing gunk??

This morning I cleaned out the drivers side hood drain on my nc using the mx5restorer method, link below, as I had noticed water pooling .
Found it quite straightforward to remove and reinstall and boy did it need cleaning. Also one of the rubber flaps had become dislodged. Took about an hour which I didn’t think was bad as had never done it before.

I had wanted to take the hardtop off my lovely little red MK2 whilst it was sunny today, but that plan was thwarted when my husband went out - so I gave the whole car a good polish instead!

I feel ashamed. that look really really really neat :flushed:

I cant claim I did any of this… The lads from MX5 restorer did all the work and have fitted the IL motorsport Chassis Brace Kit. They didn’t get to fit the front brace (I still have the OEM one) because the induction noise thing has to be taken out to fit the aftermarket brace and I didn’t buy the induction noise delete kit.

You don’t need to buy the kit at all, (unless you want to of course).
Made a bracket, bought a good pipe bung and sealed the bulkhead using the original fitment.
Easily put back if you wish or sell.
I can send you what I did if it helps. :+1:

I hit 7k rpm in my DIY turbo’d NC today. It did not explode.

I take my hat off to all you guys with your technical skills. Sound delete kit arrived today, so that will be my latest thing done. However stubby aerial was best mod as in my narrow garage it’s saved me taking an eye out! MOT on Wednesday so fingers crossed.
