3000th reply, nice work!
Iāve had LED bulbs in for a few years and couldnāt remember if they dimmed so Iāve just been out to check. Mine definitely do dim (but only) over a few seconds. I donāt recall the bulbs make nor vendor.
When removing the bulb from the interior light NEVER use a screwdriver or anything else metal to prise it out. There are permanent live and chassis connections in there and there is a very high chance you will short something out and blow a fuse.
Before anyone asks the answer is yes. I am speaking from experience.
Oh ā¦ looks like I got lucky then. I wasnāt doing the replacement as a deliberate upgrade it was just because the cockpit bulb blew so had to be replaced and at my age I need more light.
Not sure - will have a look. As I said in another reply I only did the replacement because the original incandescent bulb failed. It wasnāt a planned upgrade. I know there can be issues with LEDs and cheapo ones can fail, or do odd things like start to flash after a time. My chief concerns were (1) to have a light again and (2) to have much more light, so that In can see what Iām doing. Both achieved. At Ā£3.49 for both bulbs I donāt mind if they donāt last forever. Also I am not to concerned about the smooth dimming; my chief concern is having enough light.
Checked just now. The new LED I fitted in the interior (cockpit) light does not cut out dead but it does fade out. Probably rather more quickly than the incandescent bulb but it definitely fades and doesnāt go out suddenly.
I did the same fitting to my 2.5 18 months ago, had to remove it from the mirror mount though as it was heavy and vibrated like crazy when driving. Would be interesting to see how you get on with yours. Mine is now mounted on a custom made mount on the dash with a wireless charger for my phone.
Hi, I had the same problem with it sagging with the weight. However as I intend to get the custom mount which replaces the entire oem mirror when it becomes available (am still talking to the distributor), I removed just the oem mirror from its stalk, it just pops off, and put some araldite on the ball joint.
Once set, made sure it was in correct position I now have the mirror dashcam that remains solid and doesnāt vibrate.
Mustvsay your mount is ingenious
Sun was shining (apologies terrible photo) as I dropped off my NC at the MX5 Restorer for a number of things to be sorted. Despite Sadiq Khan forcing me to sell by favoured NA, Iām still in the game! The black Le Mans they have been working on for a while looked absolutely stunning sitting outside the workshop.
Iām just 400 meters outside the ULEZ extension next year so I have finally decided to go back to an NA and sell the NC. It will mean taking a specific route/road out of North Chingford towards Epping. Iām getting back into the gameā¦
Hope all goes well with the work.
Iāve never quite understood why the MX5 Restorer always have so many cars parked outside though! Surely the idea is that owners come and collect once work is done, or are they parts/donor cars? Looks like thereās a fair smattering of non-MX5s in your photo thoughā¦
Oh to be 400 yards outside the proposed zone extension rather than 400 yards inside! No rants here.
Behind the 3 non Mx5s are all Mx5s. The most Iāve seen apart from rallies. I think there is a mixture of customer and donors and they are definitely inundated. Mine was booked in 3 months ago.
2 weeks after my surgery, I decided to refit my illuminated ICT gear knob and centre console. Happily, everything went tickkityboo, not much discomfort and happy itās all back together again and fully functional.
Little thingsā¦
Fed up of powering on the tubes in the garage just to pop in for a few seconds. Then I kept a torch to use in there, that was a faff.
Now for Ā£7 Iāve got 3 remote controlled led lights, ideal just to pop in to check on things or pop the battery charger on/off.
My mx5 is booked in for work in feb. At MX5 restorer they told me only two of the cars are for spares . The rest in for work. I only live 2 miles down the road easy for me to just visit them.if i need to.
That explains something thanks
Its a no from me........ I think I
d have to stick to the correct stickers. This just looks like some cheap Amazon letters stuck on a carā¦ Oh hang onā¦ There`s a car near where i live and that has something similar and a āpowered by fairy dustā sticker tooā¦ We always laugh.
Sorry.
Each to their own and no apologies required. They were just some not so cheap Amazon letters. The number ā0ā has now been straightened up. The whole BBR thing has been a bit of a joke anyway
