This has been ongoing over the last month or so, but basically we’ve been busy ignoring the poor weather. Car has a new exhaust, a new intake, new wheels and alignment, new painted mudguards and taillight trims and a bunch of other smaller stuff.
She’s at a friend’s place sleeping and waiting to meet you all at the next club meet or cars n coffee.
Got the Sport Black out of its unheated garage, to let the wind dry off all the condensation after the dramatic change from a -3 degrees to a balmy 14 degrees over night.
Very nice. But my retro-fit reversing camera on my ND required just a single round hole, for which a hole cutter was provided. It was then easy to fit the camera absolutely precisely. Might be harder to cut a precise rectangular hole, especially if (as on an ND) you’re working upside down. I may well be less happy with my installation though if the adhesive deteriorates!
NC has a blanking plate this size and shape. I’ve fitted camera currently with an 8mm hole through that plate. However I can now unclip the standard part and refit the new one with built in mount . No holes in car, no possible leaks.
Swapped my “daily” Mk4 for an EV last month so picked up a UK Mk1 as a toy.
First jobs have been fairly easy, de-JDM’ing it - removed OMP wheel and swapped back to original Momo Airbag wheel. Quaife white nylon shifter (bought from love honey perhaps?) swapped for an original, and “drift” handbrake swapped to original button also. Offset front square plate swapped for UK plinth and rectangular plate.
Also visited specialists and dealer in hope to find a locking wheelnut key, unsuccessful but was a good run out. Have since ordered a replacement directly from McGard by just sharing a photo.
You can probably guess what will happen once I can get the locking wheelnuts off!
Assuming you are putting something more fitting in the way of wheels on it. Actually those might look OK if they were sprayed silver. If you are swapping them you should get something back for those on eBay or Facebook Marketplace. There must be someone out there with no taste.
Nah… Yours looks great. For anyone looking that has doubts it all works when seen in real life. Besides it reminds me of the Scalextric BRM I had as a kid.
No pictures, but I did the trombone thing on my rain drains and then stuffed the end of the pipe with fish tank sponge to reduce road noise coming back into the cabin.
Surprisingly easy job (even for me) and seems to have reduced a bit of cabin noise with the roof up.
