What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Updated the infotainment system on my ND to the latest level which also includes V12 of the Gracenote music database. Worth considering unless you are using AIO tweeks

I’ve got 70.00.367 EU N on my 2017 ND1. Does the new version address the DAB radio issue where there is a silence for a few seconds at the start of the BBC News? I recall it being a stressful experience doing the last upgrade so I don’t want to do another unless there is a clear benefit to be gained. Thanks.

Looking for rust, rear arch liners off, back box off, that needs a new joint gasket anyway. Thankfully I haven’t found much, a miniscule amount, surface stuff really still needs attention though. Car has had the full underbody treatment including cavities previously, just a little touch up needed.

That’s enough for today, my bones are aching.

I haven’t noticed any particular silences on Dab other than when I lose the signal. Having completed a number of infotainment upgrades I certainly would say the process is stressful!

Stressful - agreed. I’ve done it twice so know the form.
Silences - on DAB, BBC Radio 4, when the news comes on on the hour, there is a few seconds of silence after the pips but during the headlines. This doesn’t happen on my wife’s 2020 Mazda 3.
Latest firmware - can you send me the file or a link to it? I can’t find it by searching. The link where I found the last upgrade I did is now dead.
Thanks.

Sorry spelling mistake should have been ‘wouldn’t say the process is stressful’ :slightly_smiling_face:. PM me for the latest update

Good work keeping on top of the rust.
Hopefully you’ll keep it awayđŸ‘đŸ».
Mines in at JR Classics in a couple of weeks, for the full underbody treatment.

That’s where the previous owner had this one comprehensively treated, done a good job. Just touching up a few areas, literally will be done in minutes. Takes longer to strip the arch liners and back box off.

Brake caliper refresh (paint) and service the brakes next whilst it’s off the ground

That’s good to hear about JR Classics.
I did loads of research prior to booking mine in and been on their waiting list for 11 months

Arch liners are a pain but well worth it in the long run👍

Would you mind saying how much they have quoted for the work they are doing
? Considering getting mine treated and didn’t realise they are not that far from me

While I have the space, just getting ready for the next MX-5. Applied mist coat, other DIY jobs had to go on hold

It all depends on what they find when it’s in the air and what treatment you require.
Mine really doesn’t look too bad as I’ve kept on top of it, but you never know.
If you look at the website and class your car as Small Modern Car then you’ll be in the right area.
