What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Thanks for your thoughts, EE.

I had my gall bladder removed last November and seems there’s some shrapnel left behind, so I’ve got an infection including jaundice and liver function anomalies. On the up side, I do seem to have garnered a rather natty winter tan…or I’m Turning Japanese !!

After a few more miles yesterday, the scraping noise has completely gone and the discs are shiny all over.

I might do the serpentine belt tonight, as it’s 10 years old now!

Replaced the differential oil today on my ND1, gearbox and engine oils at the weekend if the weather holds.

I let the air out of my tyres – well, not all of it!

But the dealer, in fitting the summer wheels, had set the pressure to 32 psi, which is 10% higher than the recommended 29 psi, and perhaps accounted for the slightly rough ride I noticed with the Bridgestone Potenzas.

In doing this, it became clear that both my gauges are unreliable, so I have sprung for a Flaig.

Gradually getting organised…

I remember doing the diff oil on my old NA after a 35 mile motorway run. It comes out like very hot water!

I have the larger, later, key fob, which I inadvertently left in the pocket of my trousers when I put them in the washing machine. Minutes later, though it had already loaded the small amount of water it uses, I managed to stop the machine and retrieve the fob. As I mentioned elsewhere, the front and back are very tightly held on. I levered them off and saw little water had gone inside. Battery at 2.98 v, so put the parts on a radiator to dry out. Will report in a day or so whether the fob still works! fingers crossed, please!

In other news, I successfully identified that my 2022 RF has a secret compartment for the non-existent jack. (The door is so well hidden that I couldnt find it yesterday – great job, Mazda!) So I am now off looking for a jack.

EDIT: found one on Ebay. Hope it fits in the cubby hole!

Been wanting a SmartTop roof Controller for ages, but struggled to justify the cost. now there is an option from MX5Things!

Install instructions super easy to follow, mine is programed to open the roof as soon as you unlatch it, and close on a single touch of the close button, I set the max operating speed to 15mph to be safe very happy with the results.

I am tempted to get one of those, once my bank account recovers. The traffic lights where I live give ample time for opening the roof; but the other day, it seems that I stopped pressing the button a second or two too early, and had to drive for several minutes with the annoying beeper in my ear. I passed three sets of lights, that usually stop me, and of course they were all green!

The Smart Top was one of the best things I bought for mine, but…….
Just be careful when operating.
Even though you set the max speed to 15mph for opening, you can still go to any speed you like once in operation.
The max limit is just for the initial start. :+1:t2:

Continued with my leather fetish. This time meant totally taking door cards apart to trim the top bit.

Thanks for that good warning

Slightly extreme way to clean the fob…
I suspect it will dry out ok though.
While it’s apart, no harm in cleaning up the button edges and button apertures in order to ensure maximum travel.
Fingets crossed.

Cleaned the front wheels, calipers and arches

Fitted a dash cam and reverse camera, far too many DILLYGAF drivers on the road!!!

Also ordered a stainless eight nine exhaust from Bofi I think the current one is original (car is a ‘95 Eunos NA), this exhaust should outlast the car (and sound nice!). Also ordered a de-cat pipe (based on information from the forum I shouldn’t have any issues at MOT time.
