Replaced the standard neep-neep horns on my NC2.
Fitted a pair of PIAA 500/600 hertz windtone type horns.
Really pleased withthe result.
Similar current draw to standard, so no wiring issues.
Nicely louder though and higher pitched, most windtone horns are 400/500 hz.
Similar sound to air horns but less of a blare, no delay, no heavy compressor, no heavy current draw.

Malcolm,
there is probably a more appropriate thread for this question, which is also addressed in the user manual.

Yesterday, drove to Perth (97 miles) for annual service and MOT, despite there being two main dealers less distance away…
50K / 4 Year service, the car’s on 15K… clean MOT and the only suggested additional item from the service was to replace the time expired tyre sealant bottle, which I declined, the Service Advisor said most do, they have to offer it.
Was good to get the underbody inspection video, time to do a little rust prevention this summer, nothing serious though the rear drop links stood out.
On the way back through Glenshee met a convoy of 12 -15 MX-5’s heading South, referencing another current forum thread on the topic of waving I got about a 20% return wave ratio…
I like the pattern on the bonnet!

Sadly it’s just the reflection!
Wow chapeau, wish I had the knowledge, time, confidence and a garage to attempt something like that.
I’ve just bought a 20th Anniversary and would love door cards like that but with with tops.
Excellent job!
Not quite got the hang of replying yet. I was replying to the door cards in Alcantara with the carbon top sections
Today was my first real bit of mechanicing…
I thought I had an idea as to why my Mk1 was cutting out, jump started then cutting out a little further down the road - alternator - said my mechanic head, so I duly bought a used alternator and a new battery, just to be on the safe side…
I watched countless videos, read countless posts, dreamed of doing it.
I started with the intake tube, undoing all of the necessary nuts, clamps, cable holders etc. moved the intake tube to one side to actually be able to see the alternator, yes, I could see it, I could also see it had a very loose belt…
It was just a case of re-adjusting the belt tension.
I really should have checked that first, but I have an appointment in a couple of weeks for a rust inspection, so wanted to make sure this was done first. Hence buying everything I thought I might need.
Anyway, the car is now all sorted, back to running like a dream and been out for a little run in it to make sure all is ok. Checked the volt and charging well.
The longest part of the job was re-fitting the battery!
I now have a spare alternator for a 1.6 and a battery which is on charge. I’ll keep both as I may need an alternator in the future, and I’m pretty sure I could change it in my sleep (probably)
Many of you clever guys out there might think this bit of work was a bit trivial, but I’ve not touched an engine since my Yamaha FS1E back in the 80’s, so it’s quite an achievement for me!
With this new found confidence, I might put a turbo on her next week. I’ve got a spare couple of hours…
Top man, you are ‘one of us’ now you have passed the initiation challenge.
Got the car back today from a wheel refurb and caliper paint, need some new rivets as the company couldn’t source any and some new wheel nuts.
Spent the day cleaning, a little time under the bonnet then a short drive and now tucked up under a new cover too keep the neighbours cats off the hood.
Happy days
I was a Fizzy Boy. First motorised transport for me at 16. UFE323L, one of the original metallic orange ones.
Same for me Roadie, my first transport was a fizzy that I bought new when I was 16 (KKR 49L) and it was in gold. I actually passed my test on it so that my now wife could ride pillion. We went everywhere on it. I’d love to buy one now but any survivors out there now are out of my price range.
I had a Triumph Tina! What does that make me?
Feel free I will not take offence.
Showing our age now aren’t we? Exciting time for me, get my pension in about six weeks.
