What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 2)

Installed the gearlever shift kit. Initial thoughts are noise and heat is reduced in the cabin after test drive this morning. Also shift is slightly better. Both outer and inner shift boots were totally spilt…

and fresh oil in there of course.

Flushed it twice…:+1:

Decided to check the drains on my newly acquired RF so first made up a simple vacuum nozzle to fit my shop vac… perfect for getting into those top drain grids on the RF. (Pop bottle cap with a piece of 10mm aquarium tube siliconed into it)

It reaches nicely into the inboard rear window grids and the roof drains at each side.

Not a lot of crud there to be honest, though it did lift a dried leaf from one of the rear window grids. A quick test to see if all was clear by pouring some water into the rear window and roof drains resulted in an instant splash of water under the car, so no blockages at the bottom end, thankfully.

Second job was to refresh the worn MX-5 logos on the mats… seems strange that the logo gets its silver colouring rubbed off, even though it’s recessed into the pile. After racking the brain, I decided to try one of those silver pens that folk write their Christmas cards with… pack of 4 for a quid from ‘The Works’. Worked a treat!
Tired looking logo.

Starting on the ‘M’.

Looking a lot better!

@Roger_The_Dodger that’s a neat trick with the silver ink

Thanks. Not sure how long it will last but for minimal cost and only taking around 10 minutes to do each mat, it’s cheaper than buying new ones. :+1:

The things we do for the love of our cars !

Having trouble with those seized bolts in your front lower front wishbone suspension bushes, then look no further. I offer two unique methods of solving this annoying problem :

4" angle grinder & world cup rugby.

Had a great day :+1:

After our 2 day Peak District jaunt it was looking a little dusty and picked up some tar spots, all sorted. A wash and quick detail, probably won’t be the last before Sunday.

To tell the truth I missed out entering, all places taken, lesson learnt.
Still it’s about being there and looking at the other cars and the rest of the rally.:+1:

Today I’ve been mostly fitting Diamond Car Mats and second-hand aluminium pedals.

Whilst I’m happy with the footwell mats, anyone thinking of buying from Diamond Car Mats please be aware that clicking on the option of boot/trunk mat (despite is saying ‘Full Coverage’) will get you as shown in the photo. Given it cost only £10 less than the two footwell mats, I was not best pleased and have insisted on a refund! I’ll let you know how I get on.

Had a go at cleaning up the headlights on the new (to me) car I just picked up. The car itself is generally very clean but there are enough little bits to tidy that I won’t get bored.

Right side done, left side still needs doing but wasn’t half as bad.
